Rocco Raimundo - Give Me Your Love

This cosmic, soul-inspired, deep disco tune clocks in at 112 bpm, and it’s just what the doctor ordered if you’re looking to check out of the world for seven minutes. The duo is set to drop their new EP on February 17, but they’re not resting on their laurels, as they’re already back in the studio writing new material. HMWL Radio Mix - Just D and TMO (Round and Round)

Los Angeles-based disco maven LUXXURY’s new KCRW/Morning Becomes Eclectic-supported release is another minimally vocalized near-instrumental from the forthcoming  “Moody” EP. Think Khruangbin meets Tory Y Moi and The Bee Gees and you’ve got the slow and lo-fi disco dream called “Our Love is Real.” 

Regarding the minimal use of lyrics for this tune, LUXXURY says “I’ve never used the word ‘love’ in a song before, as it always feels cheesy. But when I wrote that four note melody line I immediately heard the simple phrase “our love is real” in my head, so I decided to go all in and make that the only lyric as well as the title. In for a penny, in for a pound.” The vocal’s minimalism and repetition means the voice is simply another instrument in the composition, rather than the centerpiece, which adds to the hypnotic feeling of the groove.

This hazy west coast funk odyssey with nods to Washed Out, Goldroom, Toro Y Moi and The Bee Gees is a chillwave nu disco classic in the making, all dusty beats dreamy synths and a minimal falsetto vocal about emotions just out of reach.
