Track 6 | This Isn't Right

This was the result of two crushes happening simultaneously that ended up dating each other. And a feeling that I was somehow a means to an end - used by one to get closer to the other, then discarded. I let my emotions and wishful thinking get the better of me. I now realize that Brooke was the one who felt it the hardest and wrote the bridge.

Fleetwood Mac meets Police meets Ozma. I love this track, now that I'm over it.

This Isn't Right

Track 7 | Why Do I

Similar to "Not It", a song inspired by Horror. In particular, it's an homage to the "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" Sound Novel by Ryukishi07. A wonderful mystery/horror series full of twists and turns. I relate to the Paranoia the characters feel and how it greatly affects how I perceive otherwise innocuous actions. As you can tell from the last few songs. 

The instrumentals are a complete contrast to the lyrics - a reference to the carefree and fun days in Hinamizawa. I was listening to a lot of synth pop and just pop in general. The bass and drums in the chorus are an unsubtle homage to "Uptown Girl".

I've had to watch as years of my life were destroyed and I had to regroup and start again. No use dwelling on who hurt you, and what they had to say. Just keep going, never look back, and improve as a person when you can.

From this point on its just me and MIDI.

I composed this piece, along with two others, for a Discord group's fantasy role-playing video game development project which ultimately never got off the ground.

This serene and relaxing tune is intended for background music in a seaside resort city. Its influences include Nobuo Uematsu ("Final Fantasy"), Asuka Ito and Dan Hess ("Pilotwings"), the Jackson 5, Mariah Carey, and LFO. (Fans of Y2K-era pop music may find the recurring jazzy piano riff a little familiar, haha.)

Track 4 | False Alarm

When you fall in love with someone and start making decisions to stay together at your own expense. I was struggling with Plurality and didn't realize the worst of my memories are kept by Brooke. They'd initiate a break up, I'd undo it. Repeat. 

I'm pretty proud of the instrumentation of this one, lots of harmonies and creative guitars and synths. I redid the drums at some point with the intention of redoing the whole song - but lost those files and decided to keep it as is.
