I admit I don't know much about modern popular music, as you may have guessed, because my mashups mainly use songs from the 1970s to around 2006. But occasionally, I'll discover new and interesting songs via unexpected sources. The other day, one of my Facebook friends linked to the song "mememe" by 100 gecs. Up until then, I was unaware of them or their chaotic yet catchy mixture of various styles, which is apparently known as "hyperpop". But I do consider myself relatively experienced at recognizing patterns in music, and "mememe" immediately reminded me of the country pop singer Faith Hill's best-selling single, "Breathe". So, since I'm a mashup producer, I couldn't resist mashing them together and creating what may very well be the world's first hypercountry pop song.
