¿Cuáles sonidos inspiraron la música precolombina de quienes habitaron el territorio que hoy conocemos como Costa Rica? ¿Cómo se idearon los instrumentos que los reprodujeron? ¿En qué prácticas cotidianas o de celebración estuvo presente la música? ¿Sigue viva la herencia musical de los pobladores prehispánicos en las comunidades indígenas actuales? 

La reciente exhibición de los Museos del Banco Central de Costa Rica, titulada La Metáfora de los Sonidos, invita a hacerse estas y muchas preguntas mientras se recorre una muestra de más de 60 instrumentos musicales arqueológicos que datan de los años 500 a.C. al 1550 d.C. Ocarinas, cascabeles, flautas, silbatos, maracas y sonajeros hallados en el Pacífico Norte, Sur y en el Caribe Central del país se pueden ver y escuchar en la exposición.

Como parte de este proyecto, se comparten en esta plataforma, a manera de banco de sonidos gratuitos, el registro sonoro de una muestra de 24 instrumentos de la exhibición para uso creativo de compositores y músicos del mundo. 

Ethnomusic sonic experiment

Percussionist and producer influenced from traditional drum styles and patterns  from Latin America, Asia, Afro, hip hop, and folk infused electronic bass.

Early career began in Orchestra and drum line. Drum tech for a brief time, then later joined projects in LA as a percussionist and Congero. In 2010 joined an indie electronic band. Currently venturing and studying the percussion/producer soundscape.

Aubrey Fry – Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 based DJ & producer blending progressive, melodic techno, and breaks into deep, cinematic soundscapes. Releases on Balance, Bedrock, Last Night On Earth, and The Soundgarden have earned regfular support from Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Sasha, Nick Warren and Guy J.
