For the 19th EP on Heimlich Musik, Cologne-based producer Dario Klein delivers three gloomy bangers accompanied by remix contributions from JOIA, Samaha, Daniel Jaeger, Kapoor and Matija. Inspired by the unique vibe of the streets of Marrakech and based on live jams, the Djeema el Fna EP tells a story of music as a concept beyond consciousness. Built around melodic lead synths and broken drums, dark basslines contribute to the mesmerizing aesthetic of the original mixes JOIA’s interpretation of the title track puts on additional pressure with bass frequencies going right under your skin, while Samaha transforms Djeema el Fna into a euphoric hymn tailored for early morning hours. With an almost criminal bassline, Daniel Jaeger’s version of Rahmos is a housey floor killer. Kapoor’s remix sticks to the vibe of the original but adds a psychedelic touch using hypnotic arpeggios. Rounding up a diverse set of remixes, Matjia’s version of Rahmos is a dreamy composition with a touch of optimism garnished by organic percussions.
The latest EP on Heimlich Musik is painting a colorful picture of downtempo ranging from smooth grooves over melodic tech to cutting-edge industrial bleeps.

Slot Machine feat. Aydo Abay, the second single from Oberst & Buchner’s upcoming album Marble Arch  is settled in a colorful mixture of genres, styles and semblances to familiar sounds. The song floats between the sacred chanting of classic film soundtracks, 80’s disco basslines and vocoders, as well as pianos and reversed guitars derived from 2010’s alternative rock, a dramatic odyssey between Hans Zimmer, Pet Shop Boys and Radiohead. One can clearly hear the reference to the duo’s past as musicians in – and fans of – several indie post and progressive rock bands. Especially when the vocals of Aydo Abay, one of the most characteristic voices in German indie and alternative rock, well-known for being frontman of bands like Blackmail, Ken, Abay, Freindz or Musa Dagh, set in.
‚You are somewhere I am in between’ could be the words of the song itself, as it is hard to determine its classification. Nevertheless it all makes sense, as all the obscure elements form a harmonious interplay that is emotional and uplifting at the same time.

Mala Ika strips down the original to its bones and creates a sunrise soundtrack for early morning hours using a subtle bassline and a reduced drum set. 
Wiener Planquadrat go the opposite direction with their remix by keeping many elements of the original and adding some aggressive acid lines for some extra pressure. 
With two remixes rounding up the EP on both ends, the second single EP of Oberst & Buchner’s upcoming album pays tribute to their versatile musical past.

Dina Summer is a collaborative project of producer Kalipo and DJ-producer couple Local Suicide. Local suicide is Greek native Dina P., one of the first female DJs in Thessaloniki before moving to Berlin, where she met her husband and the other half of Local Suicide. The powerhouse couple made a name for themselves releasing music on labels such as Eskimo Recordings, Lumière Noire and Ombra and have played a crucial part in the rise of the dark disco scene. Meanwhile, Kalipo recently released his critically acclaimed fourth long player on KI Records and is part of the electro-punk band Frittenbude. Here he brings techno undertones to this unique project. Since 2019 the trio have been working together on a special blend of late 90’s electro with elements of 80’s disco and new wave. Their first EP on Iptamenos Discos received widespread praise and received massive support from German radio alongside plays from The Hacker, Digitalism, and Arnaud Rebotini. This distinctive new album’s sound comes from two synthesisers and one microphone. Pounding disco beats under rattling bass sequences. It's a sound with roots in Italo disco classics, new wave and punk combined with electroclash of the noughties but now ready for summer 2022 from the beach to the club.

Freie Sicht feat. Acud stands out with a catchy picked bass guitar, accompanied by a deep menacing pad. A punchy snare, that shakes the listener to the core, pushes the track into a disco/new wave style. This feeling intensifies as Lasse Winkler’s, aka Acud, lyrics start in the first break. The Berlin-based electronic musician, vocalist and label head of ’Keller’ is known for his musical aliases Acud, Beatmörtelz and Lasse Winkler. He is wailing, ‚Do you see me, don’t you see me, I see you, I don’t see you‘ throughout the track. On the face of it, a text of minimalistic simplicity, even naivety, but if you loo k at it more closely, they are words that are hard to grasp in their ambiguity and difficult to interpret. The well-known phrases become unfamiliar as he continually shifts the meaning by switching intonations. On the musical side the ease of a simple arpeggiator sequence is connected to sophisticatedly reverberated palm-mute guitar picks that form a vivid articulation of modern new wave. Tal Fussman’s interpretation of Freie Sicht is a hypnotic break beat banger based on Acud’s vocal and an arpeggiator line while the evolving arrangement peaks in an ecstatic climax. Shubostar delivers a remix with mighty drums and a powerful bassline while integrating vocals, pad sounds and guitars from the original into her signature sound. Both remixes come with dancefloor aspirations without losing the obscure vibe of the original and rounding up the third single EP ahead of Oberst & Buchner’s album as a whole.

Cook Strummer has compiled the latest Berlin Gets Physical, but first comes a second EP taken from it with two fresh cuts. This one opens up with a collaboration between Daniel Jaeger - a German underground mainstay who has put out a vast number of high-quality tunes over the last decade - and fellow house talent and Jaeger’s brother Valenti. 'Quarantine Cowboys' is Valenti’s first ever release but is hugely accomplished with a superbly low-slung groove, a dirty bass guitar and hiccuping beats. It seduces in its own sleazy fashion, with filtered spoken words adding to the steaminess. It all adds up to a fresh house sound indeed.
