On 04.03.21 at 2000cet @oddyxey premiered the second installment of Pavillion, a series of audio compositions that are spatially placed within a 60 minute field recording of a specific location or sonic landscape.

Pavillion (47.4940444, 11.1660155) captures the sound of music-esque hills on the border of Germany and Austria where I spent 5 days during summer 2020 in preparation of the group exhibition Wolpertinger at Heden Gallery Den Haag.

@visi00, AKA Nicola Tirabasso, skirts the periphery of baroque aesthetic, hauntology and electronic abstraction. A recent Haunter Records debutant, the London based musician and visual artist repurposes classical imagery to his own beguiling design. 

‘Privacy Angels’ placed a glitched-out approach to baroque classicism in the same abstract space that most HR releases reside. It calls to mind the folk inflected interzones of Wojciech Rusin, and hot on the heels of its release, Tirabasso contributes to our podcast series with a typically mind-bending mix.

His music is centered around all things humane and focused to enrich the casual beauty of everyday life - an ethereal universe at the gates between reality and fantasy. → We commonly call NON-MUSIC sound objects without music such as poetry, special effects and sometimes even field recording or spoken word. This classification interested me a lot, as it tries to create a border between what is a musical object and what is not. Philosophically, this question arises : can we consider patterns of footsteps, industrial machinery or bird songs as music? What differentiates videogame soundscapes from experimental sound pieces? This third episode of the non-trance series attempts to develop an answer to these questions by navigating through very broad proposals of music and non-music: field recordings, drone, videogames soundscapes, industrial, FX, noise, sound pieces, spoken word, avant-garde…
The link that unites these sound objects is their ability to create a state of total immersion in the listener, the flow state, thanks to their repetitive and bewitching patterns, like intradiegetic sounds or narrative pieces.  Made by @fredoleboss.
