Following up on the elegantly sculpted « Not » earlier in 2023, Bruce moves onto his second EP of the year for Timedance, and carves a new display of powerful yet intimate canticles showcasing a deeply personal pop transition, 

More windows open into this new space and our eyes wander through a now growing narrative. Shifting from the more yearning landscapes of his previous EP,  « Ready » feels equally blooming and anxiously urgent, but carries a life and energy of its own where sincerity reaches new heights with both smitten joy and desperate fury. 

Fully embracing the scope of his own metamorphosis, Bruce’s earnest delivery hits straight to the core. While maintaining a balance of intimate and sophisticated overtones, he can be heard here expanding his palette further and confidently embraces more playfulness.

As we are presented with five more stories, expressing age-old themes of love and the inherent turbulence that lies therein, we're once again clutched in a rich and lucid sonic otherworld.

Do you ever just want to call someone? Like for example your old buddies from the dubstep forum you called your friends in 2008, but you never met in real life?

You got into a big fight over the bro-stepification of the sound, and you lost not just your spirit but also your friends that went deeper into the doomed direction the genre was going. While you found assurance and peace in a post-dubstep world, that made the club-specific production finally listenable on your iPod classic headphones.

I know it's hard out here and dubstep has not been the same. Sometimes somewhere at a festival for a moment you may think it's back and everything can be as you remember it.
Yet, it's also ok that it's not. Maybe it's time to move forward and let things of the early 2000s be what they were.

Beatrice M. can’t bring you back your youth. They were probably even too young to use a computer back then. But for some reason this is what their new 2 Track Single “Call / Response” brings us back to. Reminiscing about the roots of an omnipresent genre while emerging with their own production style. Familiar sounds spin perfectly placed over a punchy kick drum. Simple, pure and genius. It’s a new direction for them, twisting their technoid and dub oriented influences, yet also an educated ode to the many productions that defined the sound of Beatrice.

“Call / Response” is a bass heavy love affair, calling on all the right highs and lows for the heads. Go buy it!

Markham Road Records is back steering steady with atch22, Count, Rizla Ops, and Teqmun in the driver seats. MR003 finds form as a quartet of percussion providing some real bang for your buck. This release was dreamt up for quick stepping activity, and the four tracks assembled provide a wide ranging toolkit to get us all moving. Although each artist provides a unique solution, movement was and remains the underlying idea behind this third release.

MR003’s concluding track takes sonic blistering to a whole new level. Teqmun’s masterclass in unrelenting percussion continues to capture our hearts, and surge through our speakers. “Stop Scanning the Zebras” is a fast paced tech heavy track centered by vocals from the producer himself. “I imagined being so out of your mind that you can't stop trying to scan zebra's like barcodes with a scanner”. This track is easy to get lost inside of and therefore evokes some sort of free fall -> an exercise in letting go for eager ears in dimly lit spaces.

Fetus, who has been gaining more attention with releases on Turing, the label he co-hosts with Oyubi, and on TREKKIE TRAX, will be released on 85acid.

The album begins with Wave Wave with its uplifting bass arpeggio, followed by Martian with its unique breaks and organic vibes. The title track, Flat W, showcases an even kick, and closes with Bug Bait, one of the most functional DJ tools on the album, with precise programming and sound design backed by Drum'n'Bass' experience. The ultimate club tool has been completed.

Artificio’s cofounders, Passq (fka Arcane Prospect) and Rainmaker, take their sound in bold new directions with a four-track EP that mixes raw energy with sharp, forward-thinking production. Kicking off with «Midas Touch», Rainmaker blends his techno and ambient roots with fresh ideas, setting the tone for what’s to come—deep basslines and rich atmospheres that hint at his past while pushing into new territory.

Passq follows with «Sin Perse» and «Randy», where intricate sound design, distorted rhythms, and heavy bass are combined with a touch of dark humor. The EP closes with «Amour Fou», a “hyperbass” track, filled with both longing and optimism, echoing a desire for transformation.

A Fuego Y A Fondo is Artificio's statement of intent—a fierce commitment to pushing sound to its edges, challenging norms, and keeping dance music untamed.
