Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

Solid Steel (6th March) 'Straight ahead high octane beating Techno' is how L.I.E.S. label boss Ron Morelli describes his mix for Solid Steel and who are we to argue. The founder of Long Island Electrical Systems will be celebrating it's 5th anniversary this year and the New York based label continues to release an uncompromising catalogue of music from Delroy Edwards, Legowelt, Beau Wanzer, Dan Physics and his own project Two Dogs in a House. Expect music from Plastikman, Svreca, Sleeparchive and Paula Temple remixed by Perc. You can catch Ron Morelli at Suicide Circus in Berlin this weekend and he will be heading to BLOC on the 13th March.

From beginnings as a simple London promotor with a penchant for house, MN2S has grown explosively over the past two decades, becoming a huge international booking agency, label management company and global distributor. Now marking 20 years in the game, MN2S want to give something back.

Not to be left out, we’ve hooked up with MN2S to bring you a few fresh mixes of our own, welcoming Portuguese House don Rui da Silva to the Data Transmission podcast for mix number 451.

Having caused a major splash in 1994 as the Underground Sound of Lisbon with So Get Up, which appeared on Tribal as a major weapon in the hands of the likes of Danny Tenaglia and Junior Vasquez, the a capella alone showcased his innate understanding of what moves dancefloors. Be it in the studio or in the DJ booth, we’re big fans of Rui, his distinctive blend of robust bass-lines, palpable percussion and brooding atmospheres never failing to move our soul or our soles.

DTP451 - Rui Da Silva - Data Transmission

Inner Surface Music is an outlet for the grittier side of techno. The tracks that you lock away in the deepest  corners of your record collection lest someone find out about your dark secret. Curated by  AnD, a Mancunian-based-power-techno-duo and Run Out Run label boss Tom Dicicco, the label welcomes its tenth release, which is in the hands of eight very capable artists.

The beauty of getting together a collective of like-minded yet resolved artists is that while the fabric of the compilation is designed around the same corners of the genre with each artist bringing their signature sound to the table. Featuring new works from the likes of Sleeparchive, Perc and Gaja is worth the price admittance for its opening cut alone with of the eight new tracks on offer seemingly hellbent on stealing the spotlight from their illustrious compilation counterparts.

The real star of the show though comes from Ontal. The producer made an appearance on Inner Surface Music last excursion with a particularly impressive remix of Eomac’s ‘Frozen Souls’, so it was of no surprise that he's been invited back. ‘Spasm’ is the sonic manifestation of a freight train commandeered by Beelzebub himself, on a crash course into an orphanage. Little can prepare you for the onslaught as the track opens with beefy kicks and sirens. Two minutes in and we are given glimpse of the synth/weapon of choice, which proceeds to grow, morph and squelch its way throughout the track. This is a track that should be saved strictly for peak times, with a guarantee of carnage.

In short we can't praise this album enough, it combines originality with dance floor sensibilities for a dynamite package of brutal unadulterated techno. We must warn you however  - if the cast of the album didn’t already - please approach with care…

The Nursery Series kicks of the new year with the “Transient Response EP”, an impressive sum comprised of four equally amazing parts, by four very talent artists. 
First up are frequent label contributors Hertz Collision, who kick-off in style with “Loaded”, a no-nonsense four-to-the-floor club banger, that is sure to set the tone for everything that is to follow. A challenge that is readily accepted by A Thousand Details, who’s "Apollo 12” burns as powerful as the spaceship it is named after. An otherworldly experience that is kept in overdrive by Uun and his track “Chrysalis”, delivering his signature blend of spacing pads and driving percussion, paving the way for newcomer Stratum to close off the EP in proper fashion. His proven talent as a DJ to set mood on any dance floor is perfectly transcended into his debut track “A Fraction of Time”. All adding up to a superb grand total, making this EP an absolute must-have for the upcoming season.

Biography :
Born out of a deep friendship in 2013, Möd3rn was established as a live act channeling the raw energy of techno through pure improvisation. The project was initially founded by Electric Rescue, later joined by Maxime Dangles and Traumer. Eventually, Kmyle and Moteka joined the ensemble. Together, they transcend individual artistry to create a shared musical experience, where every performance becomes a unique journey into the organic and instinctive sounds of techno.

The essence of Möd3rn lies in the synergy of its members, each bringing their unique talents.  Electric Rescue, a pivotal figure in the French rave scene and the visionary behind Skryptöm, along with Moteka and Kmyle, contribute to a collective force that thrives on collaboration rather than competition. Although Maxime Dangles and Traumer have since moved on to other artistic pursuits, their contributions have left behind a lasting legacy and a resilient, innovative foundation for the group.

With over a decade of experience. At the core of Möd3rn is their live performance, the heart of the project. Their sound is a blend of raw yet nuanced energy—a pulsating maelstrom that captures the essence of techno with both intensity and subtlety. Every performance is entirely improvised, as the group connects an array of machines—synthesizers, drum machines, computers, effect pedals, modular setups—into a large analog mixing board, creating an unfiltered and spontaneous techno experience. This approach allows them to interact directly with their audience, crafting unique moments in clubs and festivals that are unrepeatable and born in the moment.

From the intimate setting of the Rex Club to the expansive stages of international festivals, Möd3rn’s journey is one of exploration and expression. Their performances transport audiences into a world where the boundaries of techno are continuously pushed and redefined. Central to their identity is their record label, through which they release albums that reflect their collective vision.

As they continue to evolve, Möd3rn stands as a testament to the power of friendship and improvisation—a living, breathing entity fueled by a shared passion for music and a commitment to creating genuine, unfiltered moments of connection through techno.
