What About That!

Grammy award winning drummer/percussionist/composer Mark Walker started his career in Chicago, playing in a variety of settings and becoming a first-call session musician before moving to New York in 1995. 

 Since then, he has worked extensively with Paquito D'Rivera, Oregon, Michel Camilo, Lyle Mays, Andy Narell, Patricia Barber and the Caribbean Jazz Project.  He has also toured and/or recorded with Eliane Elias, Cesar Camargo Mariano, Ivan Lins, Rosa Passos, Arturo Sandoval, Sakesho, Jovino Santos Neto, Lord Relator, the Trinidad All Stars and Diane Schuur.

He has been teaching labs and private lessons at Berklee since 2001 and has recently been appointed professor of percussion.  He is the author of a forthcoming instructional book entitled "World Jazz Drumming" (Berklee Press/Hal Leonard).  He has played on five Grammy award winning records, and was nominated for best instrumental composition in 2008 for his tune "Deep Six".  He now lives in the Boston Metrowest area, teaching, recording and touring.
