"I created this mix as a sonic experimentation in a global reflection around my perception of the fall's concept. Fall's feelings, energies, steps and mechanisms, fall as a movement, fall as a body and object, fall as an emotion, fall as a color. The dynamic is on purpose minimalist, synesthetic and organic, yet with an accent on sharpens textures, hypnotics rhythms and outer black atmospheres. The result is leading the senses through the questioning of existing structures and realities."

Aura Sonora returns with a second release to follow up the fantastic first one, this time it brings together two meticulous studio craftsmen, DYL & Tammo Hesselink. Their Moire Patterns EP kicks off with 'Pattern 1', a deep and rhythmic slice of rubbery techno that rides broken beats with atmospheric pulses up top. 'Pattern 2 slows down to a predatory crawl with icy pads making  a dystopian vibe then 'Pattern 3' brings a sense of mystic tribal ritual deep in some futuristic jungle and 'Pattern 4' closes down with more fantastically crafted, dubby, broken rhythms that are topped with organic percussion and almost impossible not to move to. Pure rhythm science brilliance.

SKIN Podcast series #040

The latest instalment of our podcast series features Gan D. The mix is a reflection of his personal journey as both a listener and a selector ranging from ambient to halftime to drum and bass, jungle, and beyond, avoiding boxing himself into one particular style. The slow, organic build leads the listener from calm contemplation into something more expansive, a sense of warmth, uplift, and renewal. 

With this mix Gan D wanted to take a more emotional and introspective approach keeping storytelling as a central aspect of his approach to build the set. “I imagine it being heard on a foggy, misty, hazy morning, when everything feels still and slightly surreal. As the set begins to unfold, it mirrors the moment the sun starts breaking through the fog, gently illuminating everything around it.” 

Moments of collective intensity on the dancefloor have left lasting imprints that guide Gan D’s musical direction. “Two of the biggest inspirations for this particular set were Nea’s closing set at Moerasa and the music at Refractor Festival. I’m also constantly inspired by witnessing artists I admire live. Seeing them in action often sparks new ideas and perspectives for my own sets.”

 “I hope to create an immersive space where listeners can enter a meditative state, something that lifts the mind and spirit beyond the everyday. The intention is to evoke a sense of elevation, introspection, and emotional connection, allowing each listener to interpret the journey in their own way.”

~~ARTIFICIAL IMPRESSION is a piece exploring nostalgia and emotional expression in an abstract form through the use of dated screen and sound technologies. Assembled during a period of abrupt change and social separation, the piece juxtaposes evocative analogue textures of bygone eras against harsh digital glitch. The method of Databending with Audacity applied to digitized Super 8 footage, and Ableton algorithms and interface pushed to form ruptures in audio samples and field recordings, generates expressive and organic malfunction. ARTIFICIAL IMPRESSION draws focus to the process of recollecting and reconstructing memories by using the glitch as a point of rupture and rebirth.~~
