JT Roach sent over a few ideas during 2020 and I immediately gravitated towards this song. It was him singing over his guitar with a few other instruments added, and when I got the stems the first thing I realized is I didn't want to over produce and clutter the song.

Marathon evolves as you listen through, going through different stages and chord progressions to emphasize the lyrics. It feels different to many songs I've worked on but it holds a special place in my heart for that very reason.
