Something Happening Somewhere returns with a new collection of stories unified under the brand new NOWHERE compilation series. Shards of tales long forgotten are told and retold by a group of fellow travellers, exploring sounds in many shapes and forms. Sailing towards an unknown destination, revealed here are the hymns luring you into the abyss… 

NOWHERE 01 is set to be released as a twelve track tour de force containing a myriad of fresh sounds build from uncharted odysseys along a host of forgotten pearls. Quince, Tracey, Sigward, Patlac, Love Over Entropy & Pete Blaker, Kiani & His Legion and Fader From Borneo all provide freshly crafted propellants. Also taking the opportunity to reimagine music by Kurt Baggaley, Fatima Yamaha, Mayaku / Dilated Pupils, Lover Over Entropy / Versalife and Quince. Distilled from this full blown three-mast comes a vinyl sampler containing five carefully selected tracks. Something is happening somewhere, but where…? 

The NOWHERE voyage is designed by our favourite designer Quentin Deronzier and for the Vinyl Sampler we’re creating a unique silkscreen printed remix of his visual articulation. The face of a mortal being exposed from every angle it discloses every achingly beautiful, enchanting and haunting detail there is to discover. There are things hiding in the murky depths of the seawater, discoveries not to be looked into the eye and sounds never to be resonated by an eardrum. Perhaps nowhere is actually a place worth visiting.

Laima, announces the conceptual double vinyl debut album 'Home' to be released on November 8th 2019 via DEEWEE & The Vinyl Factory. Featuring beats from Iggor Cavalera and production from the Dewaele brothers. 

There are two key elements that make ‘Home’ such a distinctive project. Thematically it explores how the two core contrasts that inform Laima’s life can coexist. On one hand it’s about domesticity – her love for her family and her frustration with domestic routine. Yet on the other, it’s about her creativity – her desire to express herself artistically while still tending to her role as a mother and a housewife.  

“It's almost like a family photo album in another format,” says Laima. “I needed to find the balance in this dichotomy, to feel good with myself in both roles, and be aware of things that really mattered to me. To be a woman, a mum and a female producer: all of these feelings were in the music.”

Sonically, ‘Home’ is also a striking proposition. It’s a package which features two records that are designed to be played simultaneously: Laima’s vocal and synth tracks on the ‘TONAL’ disc alongside Iggor’s beats on the ‘RHYTHMICAL’ record. Syncing two records offers an unconventional way to experience the music. Rather than passively hearing the music, the listener’s need to ritualistically sync both records makes for an immersive experience.

The city was crowded, people were wild and exuberant as the temperature began to drop and they were able to breathe once more. In a basement on the other side of town, down by the docks, music began to bump and play. It echoed and carried along the seafront as taxis began to whiz by and the lights of the city flickered and danced upon a dense black reflection which was the water. Soon this place would be lively and chaotic, much the like city streets of the present. The Dakar disco, where everyone came to dance. 

Alma Negra are set to release a new EP via Detroit Swindle's record label Heist Recordings. An intriguing, percussive affair which would be perfect for the hot summer nights of a tropical climate. The release is rounded off with a remix by Kuniyuki.
