Sounds of Lava Lava welcomes Darker Than Wax staple Halal Sol for their fourth release.  The Singaporean artist gained acclaim with his 2021 production debut on DTW which pulled in influences from House, Techno and Trance.  The rising DJ & Producer continues his fine run of form with two club-ready cuts drenched in classic House sounds.

With his title track ‘How Many’ Halal Sol lays down a raw and fun House track.  Weighty kicks, crunchy percussion, chopped vocals and sub-heavy bass stabs give a driving energy to this cut right from the start.  As the track draws you further in, warm pads swirl around lush vocals and squelching synth lines giving a perfectly balanced peak time groove.

On the B Side, ‘Cussing is Bad’ is a bright and uplifting nod to Chicago House.  Shuffling percussion breaks up the classic 4/4 groove and skips alongside a bouncing plucked bass line.  Muffled interview samples, shimmering keys and airy pads combine to create a euphoric track which blends 90’s House influences with modern production sensibilities.

For the fifth release on his label, Marseille-based Grant builds on his distinct brand of deep, luscious electronics with four cuts of smooth, atmospheric house.

The opening track 'Nature of Yourself' is an emotional late night burner, reminiscent of early releases on the seminal Paper recordings. Velvet, spiralling synths scatter throughout. 

The A2 sees Grant go on a tribal trip with the soft and dreamy 'Beat One Project' as dream-like pads collide with percussive interjections.

The B-side kicks into gear with 'Got To Know', a fresh spin on a classic house stomper which then morphs into 'Converge', a deep, acid voyage that will take you places.
