Nils Frahm has always said that he’s just waiting for something real special when being asked if he would ever score the music for a film. And that’s exactly what German director Sebastian Schipper presented to him with his one-take feature ‘Victoria’. Filmed in Berlin, Victoria’s plot sees a runaway party girl, who's asked by three friendly men to join them as they hit the town, but their wild night of partying suddenly turns into a bank robbery as the music changes from techno to subdued piano sounds.

For the recording session at Studio P4 in Berlin, Frahm enlisted the help of long-time collaborator and cellist Anne Müller, violist Viktor Orri Árnason and ambient artist Erik K. Skodvin of Deaf Center on guitar.

‘Victoria’ won the Berlinale Film Festival prize for Best Cinematography and has also received seven nominations including Best Soundtrack for the Deutscher Filmpreis – Germany’s highest movie award, and will be released in cinemas across Germany on June 11th with plans to release it in the UK and other countries soon.

In midsummer 2015, Nikko.Z shone a brilliant haze across the progressive scene with his "Sungazing" for Proton Music, coupled with an outstanding remix from Dutch duo, Huminal. Now, as summer ends, Particles launches its own "Sungazing" release with a reminder of the original plus two further remixes from heavyweight Latvian and Argentinean producers.

Hailing from the largest city in the Baltic states, Riga residents, Blood Groove and Kikis have hit upon a formula for success that has seen them climb the heights of the progressive and trance genres. With over 150 production credits for the Spring Tube and Silk label families – including the bestselling "Wonderland" full-length album for Silk Digital – the Latvian duo have continued to produce an outstanding blend of melodic music that has seen them garner support from a catalogue of 'A' listers that includes Max Graham, Above and Beyond and Jaytech. Indeed it is the latter that has both been remixed by the duo on his track "Electron", while also returning the favour by remixing their track "Mirage" in 2013.

Regular DJ appearances across their homeland and beyond have seen their production work translate effortlessly into the live arena and it is now with great pleasure that Particles welcomes back Blood Groove and Kikis after a remix of GMJ's "Silent Love" in May 2015. Taking their trademark approach to "Sungazing", the Blood Groove and Kikis remix combines a dominant house beat with a dance floor friendly bass line that bristles with shimmering energy via delayed melodic riffs that cascade across the upper frequency range. The garrulous vocal sample from the original makes its presence felt in the breakdown as vocal pads and additional production material combine in the latter movements to create a work of high skill and precision.

From the Temperley province of Buenos Aries, Cristian R has built a reputation for himself based upon a dedication and passion for his craft that has borne no considerable degree of success. Supported by a host of DJ luminaries including John Digweed, Nick Warren and Jimmy Van M, the Argentinean producer has found his music allied to legion high profile imprints that include Movement, Flow and Sudbeat. Indeed, it is for the latter that the "Outer Space" EP, written in conjunction with fellow countryman, Kasall, that saw a high point for Cristian R on the Hernan Cattaneo owned imprint.

A regular in the clubs and venues of the sprawling Buenos Aries metropolis, Cristian R's "Spaceship" EP marked an impressive Particles EP debut in August 2015 after an appearance on the "Summer Particles 2014" compilation with Kasall. Now returning with a debut remix, the Cristian R drives "Sungazing" forwards from the outset with prevailing house beat and beautifully constructed grooved bass line. Paying homage to Nikko.Z, themes from the original develop enticingly across the eight-and-a-half minute voyage of discovery, resonating in the breakdown, to create a pulsating rework that is as technically impressive as it is musically evocative.

Two new remixes from Blood Groove and Kikis and Cristian R have illustrated that the sun has far from set on Nikko.Z and his "Sungazing".

Every year on his "Only Silk" compilation, Shingo Nakamura contributes at least one original progressive track, which inevitably proves to be one of the release highlights. In 2015, it took the form of "Tribute, Chapter II", a follow-up collaboration with the exceedingly gifted Russian musician Stendahl. The Original Mix features a mellifluous soundscape, including a lush chord progression, gorgeous string effects, and, later, a timeless piano score. Our favorite moment is the breakdown, where the two artistic styles unite; specifically, Shingo's piano is joined by Stendahl's innovative and chilled breaks.

Terry Da Libra, who Shingo Nakamura himself recently described as one of his favorite musicians, graces us with the first of two inspired remixes. Global DJs and fans alike have marveled at Terry's marked growth in 2015, with hits like "Onirikon" helping to define his breakthrough year. His take once again showcases numerous midrange layers, soaring above a buoyant, flawlessly mixed rhythm section. Ethereal pads, subtle vocal effects, and an exhilarating new lead chord progression highlight Terry's exceptional interpretation.

Blugazer, an accomplished veteran who also experienced a watershed year, closes out the release with an uptempo, trance-influenced rendering. An awe-inspiring soundscape, featuring myriad melodic and atmospheric textures, is joined by a stormy bassline in the early going. Echoes of the song's original themes can be heard in the breathtaking breakdown, while more subtle, yet undeniably gorgeous melodic variations are contributed by the NYC-based phenom.

Every year on the Playa brings new lessons. Some are complex, some are simple reminders. For the two of us this past year, the message was "back to basics." As hyper-analytical DJs, we're prone to focusing on performance from a critical viewpoint: did we gauge the energy level correctly, were our transitions dialed in? But this year, playing after the sunrise on Friday, seeing so many friends and campmates out for a morning dance reminded that the point of all this is a simple one: coming together and sharing moments of joy. A wonderful and welcome wake-up call. Thanks to Robot Heart for setting the stage!

i cant imagine how it must feel to be full of music and living in a place where the thing you love most is prohibited.

please share some love and respect. i hope that i can go to iran one day to play a concert there.

 I've recorded 3 EPs, and i will be very happy if you listen to them and tell me how are they. are they good enough to be listened?

 Here in Iran is no way to publish these kind of music, Iran is a Muslim country and music is called HARAM here ( means music is a sin ).
 so what we are all working is ilegal here. but this lifestyle is the only that i can & want to do, i can't do anything except playing / making music and i won't, and this is the only reason that im fighting, even by borrowing a guitar just for recording, cause i've never had a guitar. its so expensive for me.

 I described my situation to ask you for guidance Mr. Frahm, cause you crossed these steps that im stuck in. 
what shall i do as a 17 years old Iranian musician ? is there any way to publish my music by music labeling companies ? or be supported ?
