Since a few months of silence Indigo Aera returns with a series of new exiting releases. Kickstarting the new season with one of Parisian's finest: Antigone. Besides being a resident at Parisian's Concrete movement, Antigone is responsible for highly acclaimed releases on Construct Re-form and Ars Mechanica, Children Of Tomorrow and the Concrete label itself.

Antigone's signature sound is a fine blend of soul searching strings on top of cutting edge sci-fi techno rhythms as evidenced by the eerie and spine tingling 'Words Of Silences'. Next, 'Third From The Sun' is a much quicker and more frantic but just as smooth and deep techno cut with celestial pads and a heavenly sense of calm. On the b-side there's a straighter 4x4 remix from label heads Jasper Wolff and Maarten Mittendorff that offers plenty of bang for its buck.

OVERVIEW:
We often forget that techno artists are some of the most knowledgeable and passionate music enthusiasts. Luckily we are forced to a shift in perception when an album comes out, when all the ideas and intentions that do not fit a format push the producer to embrace something new and consequently showcase some of the most interesting electronic music out there. It’s a narrative that can be applied to many of the producers that are currently pushing techno toward more experimental grounds… a group Samuli Kemppi certainly belongs to. Growing up in Helsinki, Finland and discovering the Detroit sound in the late 80s, Kemppi has consistently contributed to the advancement of techno for the past decade, sometimes as dj and promoter, but mostly as producer. Unafraid to experiment with all sorts of subsets within the realm of techno, his records have been released by a diverse range of labels (among which we find Prologue, Mote-Evolver and Perc Trax) but it’s with M_Rec Ltd. that the artist is set to release his debut album.

“The Observer Effect” is a brainy and challenging record. Recorded exclusively with gear, with all tracks arranged live, its tracks are pure explorations of the process of writing electronic music. It’s all about perfecting the loop in real time, being in the moment without any digital memory to limit the potential. Forcing oneself to go back to the roots of the genre itself, basically writing a personal and heartfelt letter to its early pioneers. Although raw and unpolished, the results convey a very honest love for the essential nature of the genre and the emotional power of the electronic loop.
Obviously, Kemppi’s attitude and vision live strong through the album: working as an intro, “Particle Spray” is a crepuscular and haunting track that pierces deep. “Agitated”, “Locked” and “Power of Voltages” are conceptually ruthless techno experiments where the core of loops gets explored until a certain climax is extracted. “Water Lake” is unsettling dark ambient, standing before the second set of loop-heavy tracks. “Unsung Heroes” and “250 Days” are basically skeletons of instant rave classics you end up losing yourself into. With “Beneath The Surface” things get even darker and sparse. It’s basically harsh dub sounds working as dissociatives. “Wrong Turn” goes out to busted dance floors and is probably the friendliest of the tracks on the record. Rough on the surface, its groove is irresistible. Expect to see this exciting electro monster getting a lot of play. The last tryptic formed by “Tailgating”, “Passage” and “Never The Same” explore more hypnotic grounds. Slightly more fluid, with more melody at play, these tracks stay consistently sinister in their nature, concluding an album that is not afraid to stay personal.

BNJMN presents Body Reflections Pt.2 - the second step in his new, subdued and intricate sonic direction.

The EP opens with “Undulations”, an emotional number on which delayed rhythmic elements gradually introduce minor chords. “Lyra” is a slow burning march, offset with an offbeat clap, giving the track a stron sense of decay and disorder. 

On the flip, "Earth Shock” is an atmosphere laden piece starting with a sombre, slow melody that gets increasingly drowned out by harsh, industrial textures. The piece eventually reaches power electronics territory before returning to its onset. 

“Severance” is a tense affair. Layered synths meet stuttered kicks. Metallic stabs come puncturing and piercing rimshots provide rhythmic clarity. The EP closes with the fluttering and delightfully ghastly "Ghost Faction". 

Body Reflections Pt.2 is deeply illustrative of BNJMN’s ability for creating nuanced and delicately balanced layers, and a culmination of his vast experience.

Rekids regular Markus Suckut drops his third album entitled ‘Heaven Is A State Of Mind’ this September.

When not helming his own imprints, SCKT and Pattern Research, the Düsseldorf artist has been releasing on Rekids since 2015 and is now a core member of the label’s family. Earlier this year saw the arrival of ‘New Life EP’, a mesmerising release exemplary of the producer’s knack for making imaginative house and techno complete with a compelling groove. No stranger to the long player format having released two albums previously, Markus Suckut returns to Radio Slave’s label with a quality eleven track album.

From the word go Suckut’s album demonstrates his versatility as a musician, initiating with a beatless intro named ‘Escape’, before ‘Breeze’ comes into play with its skipping percussion and loopy atmospherics. Crunchy snares and crystalline synths make up ‘Sun’s Out’ whilst ‘Future Is Not Always Bright’ drives forward with its sultry low-end, ethereal pads and sci-fi bleeps, leading into ‘Take A Break’ and its medley of elaborate drums, living up to its name.

‘Above The Clouds’ is comprised of intricate notes and soothing chords whilst the machinelike ‘Orchid’ features electro inspired melodies, contrasting to the album’s title track, ‘Heaven Is A State Of Mind’, with its bumpy bass and warping textures. ‘Wonderland (Version)’ is a ghostly acid cut, moving into the syncopated and ominous ‘We Will All Disappear One Day’ and its purring bassline until a moody two-step number entitled ‘Death Is Not Final’ ties it all together with twisted sequences and trippy effects.

Tresor Records celebrates the return of Psyk on its catalogue, with his new album “A Moment Before”.

This is Psyk’s first long player since his debut album "Time Foundation" on Luke Slater’s Mote Evolver imprint.

The Spanish producer released his first single for Tresor, the “Works” EP, in 2015. Four years later, the production of “A Moment Before” comes as natural progression for Psyk within the cosmos of the Berlin techno mothership.

The album is undoubtedly Psyk’s most advanced piece of work to date. It dialogs with practices in reduced forms of techno, as originated by artists like Robert Hood on Tresor Records., through the recently re-released "Internal Empire".
