Your Hidden Gems

The Nothing Special Series of mixes is really just that. Mixes of tracks that I never mixed before, just selected through the 1000's of tracks I go through in a average month and put aside as "good" tunes. Most of the tunes I put aside never get played by me, just listened to. Try to never play the same tracks twice... first and last time in the mix... Also never practice so these mixes are the only time I "spin".... again it's really nothing special.

Almost one whole year has passed since the foundation of katharsis was laid down with the launching of the label by the release of the three elemental compilations, The Flow of Water, The Burn of Fire, and The Breath of Air. Since then, seven different artists have put out EPs, albums and even a cassette tape on katharsis, yielding a total of 10 releases through this first year of existence. 

The vision of the label was to show the world how music is our best tool to process moods, thoughts and emotions by self-therapeutic involvement with the arts, which the artists have truly realized for the label by sending us incredibly stellar music to release throughout the year. The support from the community has been overwhelming, and we feel it is time for us to give something back to you. 

Therefore, we have scanned thoroughly through our discography to chop and collect small snippets of sounds, compiling a sample pack of ready-to-use .wav-files for your DAW of preference. This simultaneously reflects the aim and philosophy of katharsis, to enable and accommodate all people in their potential for making art and to break down the boundaries of creativity resulting from our copyright infringed society. Go ahead and use the samples in your productions, we are already excited to hear what will come out of it.

As a demonstration of the contents of the sample pack and its creative abilities, label founder jjjacob have put together a track only using sound material from the sample pack. The result is a ethereal landscape sequenced from the extracted emotional core of the katharsis discography, that will hopefully inspire you to take the samples in use!

You wouldn't say so by taking a listening to this impressive hour of music, but the guys behind Spaceandtime both have the humour and experience of being part of our scene for a very long time.

Developing a healthy friendship through the years and spanning multiple monikers, Aron Friedman and Eric The Man have both left their mark on the scene separately. But when combining their strengths, their real power comes to shine: years of experience, experimenting and life in general have formed them into something else, defying the boundaries of space and time. Hence the name. - FJ.

KILL YOUR IDOLS was a project set up by Dan Breeze in 2020, bringing hard industrial techno trance in his productions which will be dropping early this year. Dan 37 from Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK has been DJing in clubs from a young aged playing UK hardcore, trance and spanish makina which then progressed in to hard techno keeping his trance routes. His motto is that he plays what he wants, if it sounds good and it fits then its getting played. The meaning behind Kill Your Idols is for producers and people in general to stop wanting to be or copying their idols, when making music be original don't be like your idols, kill them off, learn from them but be yourself, not necessarily go out and slaughter them.

A fresh breeze on the techno scene, DYEN appeared out of nowhere in 2017 and has since then molded a niched space for himself. Foraying into production at age 17, he got signed to do his debut release two years later. Born and raised in Rotterdam, it’s fair to say that Holland’s number one rave city has had huge impact on the young producer. The oldskool 90’s gabber and primary hardcore influenced him early on in his career and still continues doing so.



“Growing up I discovered these incredible kicks, vocals and super-catchy synth lines. I use them, but with more powerful kicks and drops” – listening to DYEN’s releases, these words makes complete sense. He reshapes and interprets the past into something hyper modern, individualistic and raw that he calls “neorave” or “old school hard techno”; relentless punching kicks fighting for space with aggressive stabbing trancey synths; giving way on the dancefloor for something new and distinctive. With over two handfuls of releases under his belt since 2017 via labels such as GENX, Blvck/Plvgue and Rave Alert, DYEN is safely cementing his presence in the harder realm of techno.



When DJing on the mainstages of important festivals and clubs on a global scale, neo rave and gabber continue being two of his main ingredients. DYEN likes to mix them up with old hardcore and industrial records, teasing and playing with the audience. Building from a “softer” start of 140 bpm and taking it further, pushing himself and the audience, focusing on captivating and translating a purer, exposed and explosive energy. Something he is also making into a trademark are his “DYEN Edits”; sharpening his personal treasures and gems, through his unique gaze he updates and modernizes, turning the tracks into fresh-sounding stomping weapons
