Tucson-based performance artist Gary Setzer takes cues from art-punk groups like Devo, Talking Heads, and Kraftwerk as much he does process-oriented artists like Bruce Nauman and Joseph Beuys. Supralingual/Sublingual: The Tongue is the Terrain is Setzer’s first release on Pretend Records and catalogs the soundtrack for his performance artwork of the same name. In this nerdy and humorous concept album, Setzer metaphorically parallels the division between air and land with the division between language and its meaning—a narrative swaddled in clean electro beats.

An important part of the mysterious Ombra INTL collective, also one of our favorite labels, Curses has become one of the most active producers of the moment, having releases and remixes in labels, such as Bordello A Parigi, Throne of Blood, Snap Crackle & Pop, Wrong Era, La Belle Records or Play Pal Music, where we had the pleasure of releasing a killer remix from him, included on Monoblok & PSLKTR Ep this past winter and a new original coming up on our 5th Anniversary Compilation out feb 19t.

We had the pleasure of having him as guest on our 5th Anniversary Night at Cafe Berlin Club (Madrid), for which occasion he recorded a special mix, we now share with you all.

Last night had saw them dine out in style upon the fact that they might not return to the old abandoned stomping ground. It had been a humble home to many a light night wanderer across the years and soon it would be little less than a pile of rubble, bricks and wiring. The den was no more.
