"'Rituals' is the first solo album by CIRCA ALTO, an electroacoustic set of songs built around clarinet, guitars, pianos, and electronics. Copenhagen-based multi-instrumentalist and composer Mathias Lystbæk is behind CIRCA ALTO, working with cinematic and experimental music in genres such as jazz, classical, and ambient music. He balances composed material with improvisation, relying primarily on acoustic instrumentation. On this record, he is joined by Tom James Scott, who adds piano on tracks three and four, while artist Maja Malmcrona created the accompanying artwork."

This track is a mix of two straight recordings, the outside sound of the wind against the tower and the sound from inside. On the tower itself, is a set of nylon strings I installed, that form  aeolian wind harps. The strings resonate in the wind causing the clear harmonic tones. All these sounds and tones are purely acoustic. No electronics or processing was used. A video of me playing the tower can be seen here: https://vimeo.com/117737969

Researching, composing and performing with sound for over 20 years using methods of field recording, kinetic sculptures, electro-acoustic creation, filmmaking, improvisation, group workshops and exercises in listening. Based in Estonia and work as a program and technical coordinator for MoKS, a non-profit artist-run center. My compositions have been published on international labels such as: and/OAR, SIRR, Mystery Sea, Staalplaat, Semperflorens, Erewhon, Intransitive, Cut, Elevator Bath, CMR, Orogenetics, Pale Disc and others.
