Detroit techno from one of the most unique techno producers around these days. From his first productions on Djax-up beats in 1995, his Transmat Classics, and recent appearances on Skudge and offcourse Indigo aera itself: over the years Stephen achieved his own unique and distinctive production style. Timeless music with capital T. Together with Stephen we careful selected three tracks from his always changing liveset. In this way, this release is a collection of tracks Stephen did over the last 5 years. There are three originals, from melodic machine soul techno to the more straight foreward dancefloor cut's. On the flip there's a remix from Rolando. As Stephen and Roland are good friends both living in Edinburgh, it was an easy choice to ask Rolando for a remix on this EP.

One of Canada's foremost producers of underground House Jon Delerious returns to Nordic Trax with the Tree Line EP. A near twenty year veteran of the Canadian scene, Jon has released three previous eps on NT and the critically-acclaimed album 'No Warning', released in 2004.

The six-track Tree Line EP bumps between the deep, dark basslines of ‘One Twenty Two’ & 'Let It Ride' to the more uplifting vibes of ‘Come On’ & 'Tree Line'. Never afraid to switch things up, downtempo heads will surely be head-nodding to the summertime vibes of 'Speckdrum'.

Jon’s dub-influenced house for Nordic Trax in the past has caught the eye of deejays and tastemakers worldwide, ending up perhaps most notably as the lead track on Lee Burridge’s Global Underground compilation. More recently he's released music for Lost My Dog, Soulstar, Llama Farm, Moonlight & Tenor. The Huxley Remix of 'Believe In You' was a break-out track and supported by the likes of DJ Sneak, Aki Bergen, Inland Knights, Brothers Vibe, Soul Minority, Mark Farina, Demarkus Lewis & many more. 

A native of Calgary, Jon is a regular on the Western Canadian music scene and has been playing the infamous Shambhala Music festival since it's inception. Alongside many club gigs and residencies in his home town, Jon is the 'go-to' dj for touring royalty having opened for everyone from Kevin Saunderson to John Aquaviva, Jimpster, and many more. On the Tree Line EP he's joined on by rising Calgary talent, Matt Caine. Matt has releases on Moonlight, Filter Music, Kiko Recordings, Flavorite and Vivid North and has hosted the likes of Shur-I-Kan, Fred Everything, Luke McKeehan & Pezzner to name a few.

We’ve had some great guests since launching the series back in 2009 but today we’ve got a mix that is up there with the very best of them with special 2 hour set from DT favourite Skream. One of the most respected figures in the industry, Skream has long championed his own sound, ignoring genre boundaries and tearing up the rule book as he drops of house, techno bass and anything else he feels like playing into his sets which have rocked crowds around the world. It is this ability to effortlessly cross genres - Skream has wowed us playing everything from Dubstep to Disco – that had us so intrigued as to what the eclectic Of Unsound Mind boss would conjure up on the decks for podcast number 400. A new addition to the Nordic Trax roster, we welcome Brighton producer and deejay Peter O on board with the Colours EP. A veteran of London’s early ‘90s warehouse scene, Peter has been releasing music since 2007. The four-track Colours EP moves from deep house to indie dance and builds upon his deep roots in house culture.

While studying music technology & sound production at IMW in London, Peter co-promoted the Tabula Rasa & Monophunk parties. After fine-tuning his craft this quickly led to a string of releases with labels Tronicsole, Nightbird Music, De La Casa and Disclosure Project Recordings among others. He has worked with the likes of Monophunk, Asadinho, Alex Barck, Kris Wadsworth and J-Felix, who also appears on this ep. His work has also caught the attention of some notable music tastemakers including M.A.N.D.Y., Charles Webster, Lucidflow and Q Burns.

The title track ‘Colours’ is a deep & moody tech house monster. Equally at home in a big room club set as an intimate late night party, the tension & release is beautifully executed over the 5 minute track leaving you wanting more. ‘Keep It Up’ & ‘Tea Time’ explore the more tracky elements of house for fans of Chicago and West Coast funky house. ‘Tea Time’ has a very classic deep house vibe, perfect for end of night / sunrise sets.

On ‘Touch’ Peter collaborates with fellow Brighton musician J-Felix on the EP’s only vocal track. One for the disco lovers, J-Felix’s vocals float effortlessly over Peter O’s beats in this perfect sunset track. J-Felix is a UK musician releasing original material and touring as a guitarist, DJ, singer & producer. He’s toured as a guitarist for Alice Russell & has appeared on various compilations alongside DJ Vadim & Ta Ku among others. He’s also a member of Brighton collective The E.M.E..

Brought up on the clubs and pirate radio of London, Peter now makes Brighton his home where he teaches music technology at DV8 Sussex.

Amsterdam’s Indigo Aera label is back with part four of their Lost Archives series. The EP features two tracks, one by Befomo and one by label bosses Jasper Wolff and Maarten Mittendorff.

Befomo is a moniker used once only by Rotterdam's Benny Rodrigues, for an album of tracks that he produced some years ago called If One Day This Seems To Be The End. It was a personal project dedicated to his father, which was supposed to remain unreleased. However, following an email conversation with Derrick May, one of the tracks from the album is getting a release here. 'Hugs From The D', a broken drum based deep space funk with celestial pads circling round a jostling drum beat. It's an uplifting, intergalactic bit of music that has real soul at its core.

The flip side is 'Symmetrical', a track by Jasper Wolff & Maarten Mittendorff. This one is a seriously fast paced bit of supple and succulent techno with fantastic cymbal work, plenty of slap funk in the percussion and swathes of warming, dubbed out reverb. Once again then, two very special cuts from the Indigo Aera label.

The new instalment on Indigo æra features three originals by Indigo's founders Jasper Wolff and Maarten Mittendorff. Since the label's start they have been on a mission for soul containing techno. This release, a little bit more tough styled compared to their previous releases, still perfectly maintains the detroit-esque melodic elements. Cosmic Language EP is about the visualization of soundwaves into geometric forms....

Opener 'Ante 303' is a loose limbed bit of techno with straight kicks, spacious percussion and an always essential baseline that sprays about freely. Heady but physical, it’s a seductively supple bit of techno. 'Trica' has more classically driven chords and has real sense of crescendo buried in the bass. Last but not least, 'Stellar Cult' makes effective use of the 909 toms, with alien and sci fi sonic details evolving into a space journey with an soulfull ending of strings and stars.

Best known for lush and melodic progressive house tracks, Ben takes us through the making of his new record, ‘Bloom,’ which doubles as his debut on Ninja Tune and showcases a more introspective side of his personality. The beloved DJ unpacks his most influential records in our flagship live series, Playing Favourites, recorded at Dekmantel in August.

Palms Trax, the beloved British DJ and producer considered a "veteran" of the scene at only 33 years old, hit it big with a career breakout back in 2015. Since then, he's become known for his long-running radio show and record label, Cooking With Palms Trax, where he releases new music, reissues and more. His style is soulful, gravitating towards low-BPM house, disco, zouk and everything in between.

Recorded at Dekmantel in August, this RA Exchange is the latest edition of our flagship live series, Playing Favourites, where we invite artists to curate and dissect some of the records that shaped their approach to music. Palms Trax speaks to RA editor Gabriel Szatan about the song that acted as a gateway to his musical education; the track that turned him onto the idea of making music; and the band that he considers to be the "coolest of all time," as well as forthcoming music on his own label.

What unites these releases, Palms Trax says, is a powerful, ageless and immediately accessible sensibility. They aren't about technical mastery but about feeling. As music-making has become easier with the advent of perfectly engineered online samples, there's more and more appeal in music with humanity and character. Listen to the episode in full.

With Wait A Minute EP, Italian trio Joyfull Family (Chico Perulli, Guido Nemola and Cristian Carpentieri) lay down a proper slice of timeless house, laced with modern flair and proper dancefloor heat.The Original Mix of "Wait A Minute" is pure deep-house goodness – lush grooves, fat basslines and silky vocal cuts stitched together into a classy, late-night roller. A real warm-up weapon for heads who know.
G&D’s Remix (Gino Grasso and Dino Angioletti flexing their chops) roughs it up with a raw, funk-fuelled twist – dusty drums, elastic bass and chopped-up vox that slap just right. Proper vintage vibes without sounding played out.
