Introduce yourself? Pronouns? Where do you currently reside? 

Hii I’m Mabel. I'm a 23 yr old DJ/producer & visual artist. I use she/her and currently I reside in Naarm, known as Melbourne in Australia. 

Describe your walk around where you live

Residential suburbia mixed with really random nature moments. I live in the same suburb I grew up in so it's very familiar and nostalgic. Extremely FLAT landscape until you come across the creek nearby that creates a surprising amount of cliffy bush walks which also is one of Melbourne's most popular doof locations.

What’s in Your Head - Disclosure

What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?

I want to see the scene down here reignite. We lost a lot of clubs over recent years and laws were introduced regarding illegal doofs. The general vibe has lowered a lot post covid. There’s a lot of reminiscing about the parties filled with sweaty dancers, naked bodies, insane outfits, etc. Parties that were just fun and freeing. I hope these things come back. They were definitely the reason I became obsessed with Djing.

EDIT: After current events unfolding in Palestine, the Israeli born founders of HÖR Berlin have admitted to censoring Palestinian messaging on their channel as they said they had concerns of it being "offensive". Artists have requested their sets be removed from Youtube as an act of solidarity. I have also asked to have mine removed as I stand with Palestine and don't agree with censoring artists who speak out against genocide.

A land of mystique and soul-singing peace. A place for the yearning beast that claws within. A home to creatures kindred of sound, where rhythmic heart beats dance a steady pulse, a kingdom of wild things and dancing limbs. The first release Teethbarer, is a four track EP (Extravaganza Party 🎈) that sets a loopy and energetic tone. "This mix stays pretty playful. Currently I am feeling quite inspired by tight percussion and groove. I like the way our bodies tend to naturally lock into certain rhythms on the dance floor. I like to imagine this mix being listened to in many situations but my favourite would be on the car ride to a doof or festival. In Australia, the road trips we take through the barron country to get to doofs are often very long but exciting. This is where most mixes get ran through I would say."

Hue & Saturation Mix #68: Mabel

DOG002 comes baring three repetitious delights. Drummy and danceable girl noise crafted from the hands of label owner, Mabel, for the second EP of Doglandiya. Twisted funk, psychedelic basslines, and hypnotic aural anecdotes weave the fabric of this release. Each sound sways into a trance, a lullaby to the conscious mind and a groove dealer to eager bodies. 

Girl Noise includes a rework of Dionysus, an unreleased track created at the start of 2023 and featured throughout sets of that year. Dionysus is the Greek god of ritual madness, religious ecstasy, wine, pleasure, and partying. An appropriate mascot for dance music. His appearances throughout Greek mythology represent the animalistic part of us that’s hungry for pleasure. He is an agent of catharsis.

DOG003 - Invertebrate by Claude B

Hailing from Laon in northern France and residing in Berlin, Hugo Bouvet aka Claude B graces the Doglandiya roster with his selection of tantalising techno. Five songs spanning a playful yet sincere spectrum, Hugo’s productions fit the Doglandiya fantasy comfortably. His style has a quiet confidence exerted through warm psychedelic low ends bedazzled with peculiar percussions. From minimalistic and off-kilter to pushing feelings of adventure and embarking on mystical quests, the infectious joy of Claude B’s work is pure and fun. 

I asked Hugo what animal he feels the most connected to as a sort of emblem. Perhaps I was projecting a little when I felt he would go for something four legged. His answer was perfect though. Without hesitation he says a crayfish because “it drops its structure, becomes fluid but very vulnerable, then grows again”. It’s a nice sentiment to remember when listening to his music.
