Kool.K is definite no starnger to the music industry. He has enough experience under is belt to triumph over any up and coming artist in our generation and give an established rap artist a run for their money. A bit of history: in 1999 Kool.K was apart a Sourth Florida local rap group called "40k Crew". Who made history by being the first musical group, from their area to have a song on the Billboard charts. The song was called "Cold feet", it broke 14 on the hot rap singles Billboard charts. Which made the front cover of their local news paper "The palm Beach Post" As you now can tell, he isn't your average up and coming Rap artist. 

In 2002 Kool.K and his Rap group "R.W.L" did it again. They had several hit singles plays on their local radio station x102.3. Songs like: " Can I get your name" "Thouwing Bottles" "Get Doe" "Hot spot" these singles were on heavy rotations. As you can see Kool.K had always play a big part on whatever his involved with. He is a very diverse mc who can switch it up on so many levels and have your taste buds screaming for more. No questions about it he is a "hit maker". Q. Why or how did you choose your bandname?
A. Well it wasn't easy picking a name because so many things play into it. I have to say though that after thinking about my music, I noticed that it is PURE within it's genre. I do not mean that as a pun. What I mean by it is this, too many bands/artists move away from their roots. I hope never to do that. Also, I like the way Pure Ambien Drone can be shortened to P.A.D. All of my music involves synthesizer pads so it was fitting.

Q. Do you play live? Where? Do you like it? Any special moments?
A. I can't even imagine playing my genre of music live unless it was at a library or a mattress store ha ha! Ok, maybe a stress clinic LOL.

Q. How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
A. It is awesome because now anyone can have their music heard. I love the idea of building a site and placing my music online for everyone to enjoy.

Q. Would you still sign a record contract with a major label?
A. Only if it opened more doors for people to hear my music. I certainly wound not want to be tied down creatively by them though. I would have to think about it.

History:
Oh man, I have been doing this type of music for awhile now, but only recently under the assumed name Pure Ambient Drone. I started around 2002. A friend of mine brought over a keyboard and I got to play with it for awhile and just fell in love. 

It wasn't long before I had my own keyboard and was writing tunes. At first ambient soundscapes were not my focus. One day though I put one together while playing around with some cool sounds and POW I noticed I had a knack for it! 

I actually now own the keyboard my friend brought over that day and it is very special to me because he committed suicide and I have it to remember by.

Q. Who or what are your musical influences?
A. Oh man! REALLY? Everyone and everything! I live in Missouri and we have some of the most beautiful places to visit out here. I was raised in a military family and have been to a lot of places all around the world. I have listened to so many types of music from Germany to Italy to the USA. Movies are a huge influence for me. I love science fiction films. They have a huge impact on my music. As for a short answer to the question, I would say my music sounds a lot like the following artists: Moby, Enigma, Orbital, Enya, Vangelis and Brian Eno

Q. Your favorite spot or city?
A. I use to live in Naples Italy and I really miss it over there. Someday I may return but for now it's good ol' Springfield, MO!

Q. What equipment do you use? 
A. Oh you had to ask! :) I have a select group of analog and digital equipment that I use. My secret weapon is the Yamaha AN1x. Anyone who has ever played one of these will know why! Also my Yamaha SY22, Moby used one on some of his albums. I also have an Roland MC-303 and the Roland F06. I don't use a lot of software synthesizers because of two main reasons. First, I think they sound too think and cold. Second, there is no character to them, they just are. I like the feeling of analog. I love used things that someone use to own and played on.
