I wanted this to be the first track from Drive I shared with you all not because it's the biggest or the best, but because it's probably my personal favourite.

The album was basically inspired by a road trip I took with my wife from New York to Los Angeles last year, taking in Route 66 and numerous ghost towns, deserts, mountain passes, dirt roads etc, and I came up with the melody for this one towards the end, somewhere in the Mojave Wilderness as we finally made it into California, the setting sun of the West in the distance. A long way from home, and still fairly far from our final destination, but the end was in sight. And that's the moment the track basically came to describe. It isn't really a club banger, or a club track. It's just something I felt like writing.

Anyway - enough deep shit. Still feels slightly surreal to be sharing this body of work after waiting so long. More soon.

Consisting of Danish-born (LA-based) producer Tim McEwan and NYC-based singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle, The Midnight have emerged in recent years as a veritable leader of the synthwave resurgence. More specifically, the duo have received generous support from legions of synthwave enthusiasts, as well as more casual synth-pop fans, ever since their aesthetic-defining debut EP "Los Angeles" (2014). Their subsequent LP offering, "Endless Summer" (2016), cemented the duo's reputation as one of the finest new synthwave acts, a sentiment that musical legends (Chicane), renowned artist peers (FM-84), and prominent genre hubs (NewRetroWave) have graciously reinforced of late. The Midnight Remixed, one of our most ambitious releases to date, features brand new remixes by a distinguished group of Silk Music veterans, whose melodic and atmospheric sound has significantly helped to define our brand. We've also recruited a few famed nonresident label contributors, including Lifelike and Michael Cassette, whose specific compositional gifts and musical legacies seemed especially apropos to this 80s-influenced endeavor. 

The Midnight Remixed showcases breathtaking new interpretations of The Midnight's past work, ranging in style from drum & bass and deep house to trance & progressive. Michael Cassette, Johan Vilborg, Dezza, Lifelike, PROFF, Terry Da Libra, Sundriver, and Talamanca's exhilarating, club-oriented interpretations feature rapturous chords, and, of course, Tyler's mellifluous and infectious vocal hooks. Offerings from Marsh, Vintage & Morelli, eleven.five, and Mango vs. We Are All Astronauts convey a deeper and more introspective musical tone, but are nonetheless equally memorable.

Stendahl (Russia) and Ai Takekawa (Japan) team up on "Soldiers," an emotive and unique chillout tune. On remix detail, we have Dutch producers Manu Zain and Four Days, delivering downtempo and progressive house remixes, respectively.

The Original Mix takes off on a blissful note, courtesy of intriguing piano strokes and captivating sound effects. Ai's mesmerizing vocals soon enter the mix, while subtle percussion elements build underneath; the chorus proves to be a stunning aural experience when Ai's vocals shine atop the soothing soundscape.

Dutch label veteran Manu Zain provides a delicious remix, which begins with delightful background arpeggios and subtle sound effects. A rather well-structured array of percussion layers provides additional texture, as the song progresses.

Four Days delivers a strong progressive house remix, taking off with a haunting atmosphere, featuring captivating synth stabs and intriguing chord variations. The level of detail is incredibly high in this one, rendering it an enjoyable and truly extraordinary listening experience.

Helsinki based progressive guru Markus Hakala makes his return to Emergent Shores once more, this time bringing with him a well stocked 4 track EP titled 'Ocean At Night'.

Having an undeniable track record for being a melody master in the progressive & trance genres, Markus takes us on a truly diverse outing with this new collection, delivering a thrillingly melodic experience. Kicking off with a true melodic progressive sound is 'Ocean At Night' and 'I Remember You', which both deliver gorgeous layers of melodic goodness from start to finish. The EP slowly winds itself down track by track, eventually going from the more stripped back 'Marbella', all the way down to the more ambient 'Andromeda', sealing off this collection perfectly.

„La Llanura is the debut EP of Jacobo Polania aka Mente Orgánica - a young genius producer from Bogotá, Colombia. He founded his project in 2017 with the vision of „creating a ritual of introspection and union with the universe.“ His productions alchemize organic sounds with electronic elements to take the listener on a deep reflective journey within.
