Finally on the last stage of chatanmaku 2, so this song is a bit shorter than most stages. I'd have liked to make it a bit slower, but I wanted to have it match the stage; I think this speed suits its intensity better, anyway. If you remember, I made a basic idea-ish version of this song about a year ago; it's changed a lot since then~
Up next is the final boss theme, which should be fun.

Dating Start! - Piano Arrangement

Dover Beach was meant to be a string orchestra piece; however, the preliminary reading (the enclosed recording) was done as a string quintet. It was played during Merit School of Music’s Annual Performathon on Feb. 20, 2010, and at the Grainger Ballroom of the Chicago Symphony Center on March 14th, 2010 in celebration of Mark Anthony Turnage's residency with the CSO and collaboration with the Merit School of Music. Both performances were in string quintet form. It is based on Matthew Arnold’s poem of the same name, and is an evocation of the power of nature and its connection with deep thought. The piece was written to reflect the structure and spirit of the poem. I was inspired to write this piece because of the beauty of the poem, and its eloquence with which it describes a changing world. Dover Beach won 1st place the 2010 IMEA All-State Composition Program in the Solo/Chamber Ensemble category.

I made this for a film we're making at school, but it doesn't really suit the film like, at all, so we're not using it.

I like how it came out though, so i might use it for something else.

I really should venture out into more instruments, but once there's a greater selection than three it becomes a bit more difficult.
I'm pretty happy with the song itself. It just popped into my head while driving, which is not the safest place to come up with a song.
Don't compose and drive.
Could probably do with more variation.

Brightness/Contrast

You're in your log cabin at around 7am, alone, watching the dogs play in the front yard. Your SO has long since been dead, but you still leave a cup of tea on the chair she'd always sit in. There's a slight drizzle, but the dogs don't seem to mind. All is well.

High Tops And Slow Rolls

The theme this week was to try and "get back into the groove" by making something similar to your previous songs and, it's been so long since I made anything that I found that Really Hard.

I've done a little bit of music theory reading and analysis since the last song I made, so It's possibly a bit more "correct" if you could even describe that as a thing, but also feels a little more basic. sometimes when you don't know what you're doing you accidentally stumble upon things that are interesting i guess? Just means I have more to learn.

This one does keep the kind of dance/edm beat that I always lean into accidentally, though I also tried to simulate a guitar strumming effect and those two things are already an unusual combo. I did some analysis specifically into some Nier music and i can hear that leaking in, too. 

All in all, this is a very strange track, but I tried not to spend too long fine tuning it.
