04. Pharis - War For Whom (Composite Cone Remix)[MACH-061] (Preview)

My DJ set at Ozora Festival 2023 Pumpui Stage, Sunday evening, the closing night of the festival. I started right when the main stage was closing and played before Modus who played before SFX aka Astral Projection. Went really well and i got very good feedback, in the beginning there was a crowd of a few hundred people dancing which grew and grew until the end to a few thousands. The atmosphere was absolutely electric and i received a lot of appreciation from many people, i still feel the vibe and the emotions in my body and still processing what happened there that day. Was a memorable one! The mix starts with a dark-ish more classical zenonesque sound, but then goes deeper and deeper and deeper, gradually introducing melodies, trance inducing atmospheres, tribal elements, psychedelic twists, intelligent percussions, acid sounds, modern grooves, irresistible rhythms, slowly changing the style until the end. It's psytrance that doesn't sound like the usual psytrance, sounds techno-ish but it's not techno, seems progressive but it's not quite progressive, and even has some goa influences. This set was new territory for me!

On May 17 at Ridgey Didge Productions Presents - Convergence 3 - I played a 2 hour warm up set for the almighty, Electrypnose. I got to explore some new territory with this set. Kicking it off with my remix of ALBA’s, “Badman”, then shifting through layers of minimal and bush techno gears, progressively weaving into swampy sounds of psy tech and psy trance. Getting up to 140 BPM at one point I believe - definitely the fastest 4/4 I’ve ever played out! All the while playing heaps of homies tunes. ✊

The dance floor was in it with me. I opened to a quiet room, but by the time I finished, the crowd was roaring and ready to dive into 3 hours of Electrypnose. This set felt good… different… I’m keen for some more fast paced, heavier sets like this!

Synsonica April 21 2019 - Composite Cone Live Set

Composite Cone is the pseudonym of Anthony Petrou - an up and coming producer in the Melbourne Techno scene who has already had quite some amount of musical success already. Previously producing under the handle of "Petrou", Anthony has landed both an EP release and several remixes on one of Melbourne's premier techno labels:Machine Label as well as tracks on labels such as Italo Business, Freshin and Mystika Records.
But in 2016 he has decided to make the change to the name "Composite Cone" in order to reflect his growing studio and production complexity, stylistic changes and personal growth as a Techno artist. His style of Techno is a mixture of eclectic bleeps and bloops, industrial drum rhythms, surgical melodies and heavy basslines.
Anthony created the early Composite Cone tracks in a garage with an impromptu arrangement of drum machines, DAW's, synthesizers, and hardware sequencers - which are all strewn across an unused pool table.
2019 saw the release of Composite Cone's first album, Under The Radar which is out now on Melbourne's premier Techno label: Machine. The album was all recorded live, with each track being one whole take from start to finish.
