The utopian promise of social media connecting the globe on the basis of common understanding of human worth was a noble and enchanting proposition.  If “sunlight is the best disinfectant”, then having more engagement should have allowed the truth to rise to the top.  But we’re painfully realizing that the more appropriate quote describing our situation is “a lie can run half-way around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes”.  As long as algorithms don’t perfectly align with the ideals of human flourishing, consumers and creators alike will fall deeper into the feedback loop of audience capture until we reach critical mass, causing our civil societies to erupt, then collapse.  There is still time to course correct, but we must learn from our mistakes before we become totally distracted by the looming revolution in A.I.

Vulnerability. 

It’s a quality we often search for in art, but is an emotional state we desperately try to avoid in our personal lives. V/M/m represents both sides of this coin, in both its themes and in its creation. The tracks were recorded nearly 10 years ago when Veronika Coassolo and Macro/micro (Tommy Simpson) sonically explored fragility, loss, tenderness and melancholy in a very personal way. While feeling excited about the tracks on their own, unhealthy impulses of the monkey-mind badgered Tommy with thoughts like “does this fit within the aesthetic of Macro/micro?”, or “have I done enough musically to support these beautiful vocals?”. Paralyzing self doubt pushed these tracks deeper and deeper into hard drive archives until they were nearly forgotten, until thankfully, a mentally different Tommy Simpson rediscovered them in 2025. One advantage of aging is becoming more comfortable in your own skin, less neurotic of life’s decision-tree of limitless possible outcomes, and thankfully, in this case, acceptance of the vulnerability that made these songs spacial to begin with. While the tracks may be a time capsule, their emotional valence is evergreen.

After nearly half a decade since their monumental ‘Make It Good’, DJ Tennis and Fink re-collide on !K7. The Certain Angles 12”, to be released on 13 October, includes an exclusive club mix by DJ Tennis. 

Inspired, recent studio sessions have bore two breathing, sonic landscapes, entitled ‘Certain Angles’. Glimmering pianos, droning machines and captivating song writing take form, wrapping the Berlin-based singer’s voice in subtle melancholy. Both humbly understated, yet party-ready, ‘Certain Angles’ perfectly summarises the Life and Death founder’s recent etching in the DJ-Kicks stone. 

DJ Tennis has also called on four of his most trusted allies to reinterpret the single, with four digital-only remixes: The/Das deliver a pensive moment of bubbling body music; Francesco Leali appears with a timeless, genre-bending re-perception as OPUS 3000; Lee Jones salutes the faithful dancers, while Mentrix’ unclassifiable excursion challenges the towering borders of Techno.
