The next release in the Handstitched* split-artist series is by Yair Etziony and Oberlin. Handstitched* are pleased to announce the series of evolving limited-edition issues, they are released on both mini CD and C45 cassette and will focus on two artists with a total of 22 minutes per artist, one CD and one-half of a C45 cassette per artist - limited to 50 copies per release. Each of the formats have hand-crafted packaging, unique, hand-printed covers for the CD and hand-made cassette sleeves for the pro-dubbed tapes.

Story. 
My father-in-law called me up this past winter to say he'd seen an unwanted electric organ balanced on top of a car in mechanic's garage. We wrestled it into the back of a van and brought it home where it began to do some pretty strange things. When I first turned it on, it poured out smoke and then it played a tune after being turned off and unplugged! My good friend and sound engineer James Welch was up in Shropshire doing some live recording around this time and popped over to have a play on the said Yamaha Electone Organ. After experimenting with different settings, James found the arpeggiator, which I loved the sound of. I got to work, recording the gorgeous analogue sounds of the electric organ a few days later and began working on the accompaniment. The track started to really flow and at this point I called on Faith Brackenbury to record string parts for the track, I’d written. During this time, I was also producing and recording an album for TB Ward called ‘Lamblion’ (out later this year). Around this time, he showed me his wire paintings, one of which featured on the cover of my latest single Unless. As we were working together, I wanted to show the creative processes that Tim used to create his art work on location at his rural studio. It felt that we were both creating work in response to the sudden onset of spring and filmed him in his studio creating the piece called ‘The Daffodil’, which now features as the cover of this release. I felt there was a accidental synergy between the footage of TB Ward's creative process and the audio.  The video tells, in part, the story of the inspiration for the music - the fullness and abundance of spring that suddenly arrives, like that moment the idea for a new piece bursts forth out of nowhere.

Voyager EP is a deep journey into the lucid, organic world of the avant-garde multi-instrumentalist/producer ‘Captures’. It is a collection of three tracks with three uniquely contrasting vibes yet a common thread of live percussion, uplifting melodic instruments and soulful groove. 2020 is set to be a big year for Captures as he is primed to release a large body of work over the coming months with Voyager EP being the first step of the journey. Having spent some time on the magical Lake Atitlán, this EP carries a special energy of Guatemala and is the perfect fit for the dreamy, hypnotic sound that is Resueño.

Terminoid & Risaia in salita / Terminoid & Uphill Paddy

Also Terminoid and Uphill Paddy share the same origin: they are both guitar improvisations with electronics and real-time looping, recorded as they came out of a multi-effect processor by the sound card of an already old Mac G3. In both the sensation is better than the technique. The first darker and looming, the second a continuous luminous crescendo.

Anche Terminoid e Risaia in Salita condividono la stessa origine: sono entrambe delle improvvisazioni di chitarra con elettronica e looping in tempo reale, registrate così come uscivano da un multi-effetto con la scheda audio di un già allora vecchio Mac G3. In entrambi la sensazione è migliore della tecnica. Il primo più cupo e incombente, il secondo un continuo crescendo luminoso.

Following the release of his debut album Departure earlier this year, Kennebec returns with a digital package of six remixes on 16th October 2020, building on the expansive, organic sounds of his debut outing in collaboration with some of jazz and lo fi’s finest. Upon Departure’s release Kennebec’s naturally inspired, exploratory work drew comparisons from Crack Magazine with early Four Tet, with them calling it “an ode to the beauty and solace found in the Pacific Northwest, to its sweeping landscapes and lush rainforests”. In keeping with Kennebec’s source material, this collection of remixes feels like an organic offshoot, spawned instead of made. The EP opens with Newham jazz maven Alfa Mist’s remix of Quest. A prominent artist/producer in UK jazz’s celebrated no-longer-new wave, for his remix he amps up Quest’s natural swing, employing his characteristic taste for chopped samples while weaving its guitar and string elements into a Dilla-esque jam. With a similar taste for exploring the blurred boundaries of jazz and hip hop, Stan Forebee takes the lilting piano lullaby of Yesterday Tomorrow and cradles it into a laid back, contemporary jazz roller, with undulating pads atop a steady, pensive beat. Getting to grips with one of Departure’s lead singles, Portland’s Kalaido draws all the song’s sprawling musical elements into a tight, lo fi work, emphasising the original’s stand out moment sampling its otherworldly sax solo. Next Santpoort tackles A Monsoon, maintaining its driving momentum while lending his own dreamy tone. Night Time Stories’ own Ash Walker steps up for remix duties on album title track Departure, drawing out and re-emphasising the original’s bassline to incredible, blissed out effect, before prolific downtempo composer Tristan De Liege
closes out the release with his take on the wending ‘Kalahari’, dressing it in ethereal piano chords, chopped guitar lines and warm pads.
