Background:
This song was the first song gifted to me, of my own connection to Spirit, upon the Medicine Path. As a result of entering the Ayahuasca Lineage path, I became increasingly curious about Song and this was the first that came to me, that I wrote down, practiced, and sang as a lullaby to Spirit. 

I wrote this song in New Mexico, after a desert rain storm, on a roof, in July of 2014.

Ceremonial Context:
This song, for me, is sang to "call" the awareness of the ceremonial circle to our highest nature: to the grandmothers & grandfathers that watch over us. And, ultimately, the song invites us to realize that we individuals are, in fact, one with the Spirit of All: the Grandmothers, Grandfathers, and all of Creation.

It's nature is "lullaby", and therefore is sung when the ceremonial space is in a deep, inward, and intimate space within itself. It encourages a soothing, nurturing, and somewhat mysterious vibration into the celestial realms.

This track is a remix mashup arrangement I created of two beautiful medicine songs sung in Santo Daime traditions for "Iemanja", or "Yemenja". 
Iemanja is known as a powerful female water deity in the Yoruba religion as "Queen of the Ocean". 
The 2 songs featured in this remix are "Ponto de Iemanja" and "Das Aguas Nareia"

This EP was created as a dedication to water. We believe water is life and want to honor the water not only as a gift and birth right, but also as a medicine. We pray that all future generations can have clean water, that we could take care of all the waters of the world; the rivers, the oceans, the lakes, and that we could learn to take care of the water inside of us. 

This EP was inspired by a show that I created honoring water for a musical residency in Mykonos, Greece where I was surrounded by water daily. We would sing and play water songs before an altar that honored the water and finish our show by offering the water from the altar back to the ocean. 

Thank you for listening and supporting this mission of wellness and consciousness for our beautiful and sacred Mother Earth and her waters.

All life is intricately woven together by the very fibers of Spirit within each of us.  By honoring our relationship to all life and deepening our understanding of this sacred link we are each able to become better stewards choosing how to bring beauty, intention & positive change to our precious home: Earth.  Inspired by his time in the Peruvian Amazon working with the master teacher plants, Canto de la Selva is a prayer to our plant relatives who so generously help us to heal and purify our mind, body and Spirit when we open ourselves to their medicine and wisdom.
