Ivan Latyshev (@ivanlatyshev) is a record producer and DJ with more than 10-years experience, having grown up in Russia’s cultural epicentre of St Petersburg. Developing a love for deep house, the young producer has been releasing his perfectly- realised club tunes on labels such as Toolroom, and now provides us with a second outing on Dessous Recordings. The Art of Flying EP presents two original tracks and a pair of remixes of the lead cut. 

The original 'Art of Flying' is quite a statement - a jazzy, swingy beat introduces the track, before solidifying around punchy 4 / 4 groove. Restless synths drift in and out resulting in a track that is both exceptionally funky and deeply wonkytopped off with a killer spoken word vocal.

The ever-dependable Eddie Fowlkes steps up on remix duties and supplies a more jacking interpretation, adding a filthy bassline on his Fly Mix.

The same track also gets a 'Crazy Dub' rework which expands the space within the track and strips it down for maximum club effect.

We welcome Midlands-born DJ and producer, Citizenn, to Nic Fanciulli's Saved Records this month with brand new single, 'Stay With Me', accompanied by a killer remix from label favourite, Black Circle. Taking his name from a passing visual reference in the Manga film Akira, Citizenn, has seen releases on labels including Knee Deep In Sound, W&O Street Tracks, Mobilee, &Friends, Kaluki, Do Not Sleep and ABODE, and his DJ travels have taken him all over the world, from big festivals such as Hideout in Croatia to the Techno legend that is Berghain. 'Stay With Me' is indicative of Citizenn's unique sound, fusing together rolling percussion, moody melancholic vocals, dark and brooding synth lines all held together with an infectious bassline over ominous atmospherics. Black Circle's remix puts a different spin on the record bringing a more tribal feel to the track offering laidback drum grooves, hypnotic melodic loops, shuffling hats, intricate piano melodies and a grooving low-end to create nothing short of an Afro House masterpiece.

Hailing the first release of his brand new imprint, Four Four Soul Recordings, well known London producer, Tom Davidson (of Reel People fame), launches his brand new guise Casa Devi with a sublime debut ‘Peaceful Thoughts’. Drizzled the dreamy ethereal voice of Syrian born Layal Watfeh, ‘Peaceful Thoughts’ Original mix is a mellow jazzy affair, laced with brass stabs, flute, sweeping strings, guitars and creative keys, all set to a broken beat flavoured groove. Also on the package, Tom houses things up with a cool Club Mix driven by catchy electronic bass hook and a superb trumpet solo; Pat Bedeau takes things deeper and dubby with his signature Bedfunk sound. Luke McCarty and Craig Whitfield's HHA (restless soul family) turn on their Harlesden charm with a hypnotic Acid Dub; and Modaji renders a blissed-out soulful groove teased with soothing synth washes.

The man behind London based ‘Casa Devi’ is producer, mixer and engineer, Tom Davidson. Tom's love of Soulful, Funk and Jazz tinged dance music inspired him to set about writing new material in the studio and Casa Devi’ was born. Tom Davidson is a producer/mixer/sound engineer with over 25 years in the business and has run his legendary ‘People Studios’ in London for 20 years. He is a founding member of the acclaimed band ‘Reel People’ and has engineered, produced and mixed a plethora of recording sessions for clients including prestigious names: East West Connection, Nathan Haines, Phil Asher, Bob Jones and Lofty, Carl Orr, Jeff Beck, Norris Windross, Danny Rampling, Planet E, World Circuit Records, Papa Records, Universal and Sony Records, to name a few.
