MadTech Records delivers its first EP of 2016 with February in the shape of Solardo’s ‘How I Work’ EP, a three-track collection from the UK duo. 

Mark Richards (MRK1) and James Eliot aka Solardo have been on the rise over the past couple of years with material for Skream’s Of Unsound Mind imprint, ViVa and their very own Sola imprint, as well as picking up support from Boiler Room for their debut and the likes of Jamie Jones, Skream, Steve Lawler and Matthias Tanzmann. Here the duo push on with a fresh three tracker release via Kerri Chandler’s MadTech Records. 

Title track ‘How I Work’ opens the release and sees Solardo fuse chugging bass grooves and crunchy percussion with infectious vocal hooks and acidic synth blips, resulting in a dance floor ready twist on contemporary house music to open the release. ‘Beat That’ follows and lays down a similarly hypnotic groove fuelled by rumbling sub bass tones, acid licks and looped vocals uttering the track title. 

The package is rounded off with ‘Digital’ which takes on a classic electro feel with 8 bit style rhythms, penetrating square wave bass hits and mind bending pad swirls throughout, MadTech once again proves it’s a force to be reckoned with in 2016 via this exciting new act.

One of the most exciting up and coming artists of recent times, Detlef makes his debut on the mighty Hot Creations with his ‘Kinky Tail EP’ featuring three jacking bombs plotting a riot on the dancefloor. After recenly appearing on our podcast you will know his production career thus far tends to veer in the direction of the dancefloor and having seriously impressed with releases on the likes of release music on respected labels such as Be As One, Material Series and VIVa MUSiC we had high hopes that his mix for us would be crafted on a similarly sumptuous tip.

Greece native Detlef labelled the ’Kinky Tail’ release "a mythical monster that has been hiding in my studio for a long time. The tracks in this EP revolve around kinky basslines with short musical interludes which combine to keep an underground feel and work great on the dancefloor too.”

We premiere the lead track of the EP "Kinky Tail" below, Detlef is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Turning heads on the scene since its inception in 2016 with a consistent series of flawless underground techno and house-leaning releases, Sense Traxx is a label with a clear vision about where it should be and what it needs to sound like. This latest release from Bradfords up-and-coming Tobias is no exception and is a fitting representation of the Sense Traxx ethos. A weighty EP with two original tracks from Tobias and an exceptional remix from Glenn Coombs, Fiya Bunpulls no punches from the very first second right through to the last. The title track launches into a raucous tech house groover, combining a chopped up ragga vocal with serious percussion and a monster bassline –a track that has been tried and tested by the likes of Pirate Copy on terraces across Ibiza leaving no man standing. Tobias proves his versatility and takes a completely different spin on things with his second track - The Funk. As the name suggests, funk is the order of the day here and its expertly delivered through a simple yet effective synth bassline that oozes screwfaced, head-nodding vibes, topped with some instantly recognisable, classic vocal samples Ive always tried to ensure that Sense forges its own path in the industry and we dont just jump on the current big sound– this involves a lot of time spent researching artists, and having spent an afternoon on Facebook, as you do, I noticed Tobias had posted up a video of the track being played out at a festival earlier in the year. On the remix duties is one of the hottest names on the scene, Glenn Coombs. Taking the title track and putting a distinctly progressive, atmospheric twist on proceedings, he manages to give the track a mature edge that is a perfect fit for this summers sunrise sessions. Backed up by regular events in the UK and across Europe, the Sense brand is fast becoming one of the most talked-about purveyors of quality underground dance music on the scene. Looking only to sign innovative and forward-thinking sounds, the quality A&R approach is what sets Sense Traxx apart from the rest of the noise –the Fiya BunEP is a testament to this and looks set to keep the Sense Traxx fiya bunnin for the foreseeable future.

Eddy M's timeline to the point of writing 'MTF' in capital letters shows conventional wisdom when the lure of the house that Jack built comes calling. A drummer in his youth and a graduate of Palermo's European school of Jazz, studying the ins and outs of piano, guitar and percussion, now has Wally Lopez, Matthias Tanzmann, Marco Carola and Kaiserdisco dishing out big ups for his dancefloor designs. He therefore slots nicely into the Clarisse schedule for release number 68, of deep beats with pistons gleaming, and minimalism with a mass of action going on. This is Eddy M, not EDM.

Since relocated from Sicily to Barcelona, Eddy M heads his own appropriately named Drumkit Records label, runs with the major players of the Elrow crew, and has his feet under the table at Space Ibiza following successive closing party slots. For 'MTF Beat' he adopts a buffalo stance with bass laid down large and on the low, precisely positioned trumpeters, scratches and samples coming at you from every corner of the arena. Perfect for when the combination of sun, sea and sand becomes the view from your window seat.

'Don't Stop' will become a personal best for those that treat clubbing like a marathon, running through the decades and showing bumpy vibes, rave klaxons and hip-hop attitude a clean pair of heels. More dancefloor confetti decorates a bottom end riding shotgun with energetic, reinforced beats that won't stop until sun up, and breakdowns that don't break stride guarantee the elevation of every limb. Man the fire extinguisher, because this one is hot.

It's such a tradition to have Caal & Baum music on the label for the summer season. After 'Downtown Beat' and 'Rockin Shoes', this usual suspects delivered two housy weapons ready for a wide range of Djs and clubbers. It's time to 'Funk Dat' and 'Trycan'.

The lead track of this release, 'Funk Dat', is a vocal track featuring Menesix, a talent-ed artist from Amsterdam, whom transform an old 90s vocal in something up-to-date with a lot of potential. Heavy low-end and funny beat for all audiences. 'Trycan' is the other option in this EP, 2000s house feeling with modern production, a proven and tested dancefloor bomb. The guys did it again!

Now into its 14th year, Kaluki is one of the underground’s most revered house and techno brands, maximising its impact on the scene through sell-out events worldwide, and through its in-house record label which is experiencing its strongest run of releases yet. On 30th August, Kaluki boss, Pirate Copy, returns to the label following standout outings on elrow, Sola and Relief, with his slickest single yet: Just A Beat. 

The sum of two decades spent immersed in electronic music, Just A Beat treads new ground for Pirate Copy – a more mature sound that draws on the original warehouse scene in his hometown of Manchester. Just A Beat fuses old-school synths with groovy, rolling drums and a bassline to lose yourself in at 3am – the perfect balance of a heads-down stomper with an ethereal rave vibe that’ll have clubbers reaching for the lasers like the good old days.
