This soundtrack would be hardcore, and Motohiro Kawashima brought the goods. For this song, I wanted to build an expansion onto it that felt completely natural and logical, and I wanted the listener to miss the transition entirely. The objective? To create a sense that this is the definitive fleshed out version of the song. It's my take, and I hope Kawashima-san enjoys it, if he ever listens to it.

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 23/23🔥 - When developing the music for Streets of Rage 3, a technique was used to artificially create randomized sequences that could not otherwise be dreamt up by the human mind.  Cycle I is a perfect example of the chaotic heavy industrial techno approach the game took, and it was a challenge to flesh this one out. Less turned out to be more, as any significant deviation would have ruined the track altogether. Great job by Motohiro Kawashima on the original composition.

Cycle I (Expanded & Enhanced) - STREETS OF RAGE 3

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 23/23🔥 - "Percussion" is a very tricky tune with a Caribbean-style beat and a lot of abstract elements, which is why it took some time to figure out a way to branch off into an accompanying section.  I'm happy with what I came up with, and I think it's a nice departure from the main theme, without leaving it entirely.

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 23/23🔥 - "Bulldozer" is one of Streets of Rage 3's most abstract and polarizing tracks. To some, it's incredibly annoying. To others, it's a whirlwind of sonic textures and hardcore techno-infused hooks. I wanted to bridge the gap between the two by expanding on it almost like the sun breaking briefly between the clouds of a massive thunderstorm flying across the skyline at breakneck speeds, to the point where the flesh on your face is ready to peel off. Did I succeed? You be the judge.

Bulldozer (Expanded & Enhanced)- STREETS OF RAGE 3

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 23/23🔥 - "Random Cross" is one of the most abstract songs on the entire album, and therefore very difficult to expand. I decided less is more for this one, rather than go off in too drastic a direction. The song maintains the humming groove right to the end, with just a little bit of aesthetic fiddling to help add some flavor to it.

Random Cross (Expanded & Enhanced) - STREETS OF RAGE 3

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 23/23🔥 - "Underground" is the official name of this very, very abstract Stage 4-2 track for Streets Of Rage 3. For this one, I wanted to do something completely different from everything that I'd done before. No beats, no percussion, just pure, honest, heartfelt emotion. For this, I took inspiration from groups like Underworld, who like to slow-build those sweeping emotions and feelings.  I approached the song as if it was a brief respite from all the chaos going on, like being in the eye of a hurricane. It's the most peaceful song of the entire album; a way to briefly interject beauty and calmness into a sea of abstract chaos.

Underground (Expanded & Enhanced) - STREETS OF RAGE 3

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 23/23🔥 - The original version of "Shinobi Reverse" was catchy, but far too repetitive. It should have been stretched out and sprinkled with some variety, which is why I was happy to tackle the tune. My Expanded & Enhanced version plays up the fusion of Japanese culture with a classic Shakuhachi flute sample, and a brand new section done with a traditional Japanese harp. It's got a much more authentic feel to it now - mixture of old history, and new electronica.

Shinobi Reverse (Expanded & Enhanced) - STREETS OF RAGE 3

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 23/23🔥 - "Beat Ambience" is, without a doubt, one of the most quirky and off-kilter songs of the entire Streets of Rage 3 album. The objective here, ironically, was to stick close to the formula, while giving it a little bit of power. The entire song focuses on the "beat" formula, which is why I went from rapid-fire drums to a thundering groove in the middle, only to build it back up near the end.  I think it works. Do you?

Beat Ambience (Expanded & Enhanced) - STREETS OF RAGE 3

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 23/23🔥 - "Moon" is one of the more straightforward and accessible tracks in SOR3, but I had a hell of a time figuring out where to go with it.  I decided not to deviate too far away from the original when it came to the expansion, but I also wanted to play up the positive vibes a bit more. Therefore, the expansion is all about capitalizing on the positive feel of the song as a compliment, rather than a replacement.

Moon (Expanded & Enhanced) - STREETS OF RAGE 3

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 23/23🔥 - "Robo X" is a semi-boss track that unfortunately didn't get a lot of attention in the original game. It's a simple, straightforward song with odd time signatures that loops very fast, leaving very little material to draw from. I decided to just go with my instinct to construct a middle section, while blending new parts with existing material to create a more fleshed out version. It's also worth noting that I incorrectly titled this song "Mr. X," which is incorrect. That was now been fixed.

Robo X (Expanded & Enhanced) - STREETS OF RAGE 3

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 23/23🔥 - "The Poets I" is the second of two songs with the same name, and occurs during the "bad" path in Streets of Rage 3, if players fail to save the life of the Chief. It's a dark number with a strong beat and a powerful melody, and I wanted to play up the emotion of the song by amplifying that resonance, tenfold. Lots of additions and enhancements, as well as the expansion, in order to create a more thrilling, rousing and triumphant song.
