"Streets of Rage 2" is a beat em up 16-bit classic for many reasons, particularly the scorching-hot soundtrack by master composers Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima. It's a mixture of hard-hitting techno, house and big beat thrown into a cocktail and cranked out to sonic perfection, but...it was working within the confines of a 16-bit cartridge-based console.

I wanted to further flesh out the songs on this soundtrack with my signature expansions, which are entirely new additions to the song in order to make them longer and broader in scope. This is my take on what Koshiro and Kawashima would have done with more time, better hardware, and higher storage capacity. As always, EVERY song in the soundtrack has been painstakingly recreated from the ground up, note-for-note. No sampling, no rips, no stems.

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 6/23🔥 - "Walking Bottom" is a song I never really expected to do, but for the sake of completion, I decided to do it last year for the Gold Edition release of Streets of Rage 2. This is a more tacked up and refined version to coincide with the remastering formula I used for the FINAL CRASH edition of the soundtrack. There isn't much to the original song, which is why I love how this turned out. I managed to take a simple throwaway track, and produce something with a deeply emotional and powerful expanded section. If Yuzo Koshiro ever hears it, I hope he enjoys it.

NOTE: This is the "Final Crash" edition of the song, in reference to the last time I will be touching the original SOR soundtracks. I now consider them totally complete.

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 6/23🔥 - Motohiro Kawashima created this funky little number for Streets of Rage 2, but it was never used in the original game. I wanted to play up the funkiness and high-spirited energy of the original with a lovely and emotional expansion that danced happily into a complete absence of melody, where the drums and percussion took center stage. I love how this turned out, and I listen to it a LOT, even today.
