At the age of 17, DJ GMC became the DJ of a Hip Hop group called "Northern Lightz", members of the original, frequently copied but never equalled, "SBK SQUAD". This huge Squad was set up by different rappers, djs and grafitti artists as well as some breakdancers. After this group split up around 2002 and a small musical pause GMC realized that he can't escape from his passion of doing music. So he returned to the DJ scene in 2007 and tried to go his own way by dropping a lot of Dancehall Mixtapes (Soundclash series 7.1 - 9.1).
In 2009 DJ GMC founded "GMC Music Productions" (http://www.soundcloud.com/gmc-music-productions). Having experiences in playing piano and guitar he started to experiment with productional hard- and software and easily built beats and riddims. He used his well know links to artists to produce a lot of songs in a very short time.
2009 he came in contact with the great UK selecta "Silverfox" and helped him to build up SFDC Radio (www.sfdcradio.com). He became a regular radio DJ for Reggae and Dancehall music there. In 2010 a lot of different reggae dancehall riddims with upcoming jamaican and international artists were released by GMC (e.g. Medication Riddim, Ghetto Siren Riddim, Boiling Blood Riddim,...). Several artist mixtapes as well as reggae mix cds were released by him through these years. In 2011 his amazing "Whizzle Riddim" came out. 3 videos were produced from artists who voiced this riddim

While the first release was already joined by the massive amount of 16 international artists from Jamaica, USA, Canada, UK, Netherlands and Germany, the final Megapack even contains 22 songs. The riddim was presented in Germanys biggest Reggae Dancehall Magazine "Riddim" in summer 2011 and the feedback was good all the way.
In August GMC released the "Hot Summer Riddim" on iTunes, Amazon, Napster, etc. 11 artists with a blazing summer vybe can be found on this great digital release.
While producing Reggae and Dancehall GMC soon realizes his ability to switch the genres from Reggae to Raggajungle in his productions. He created several great jungle remixes/bootlegs of well known ragga songs and this lead him to start a free release EP series called "DJ GMC - Jungle Movements". Volume 1 & 2 were released in 2011 on www.unjustifiedrecords.com and were followed by Vol. 3 in 2012 and Vol. 4 in 2013.
As it is only a small step from Raggajungle to Drum n Bass, of course you can also find productions of this crazy music lover in the D&B scene. In spring 2011 "Synfonickz" was founded. The two men standing behind this young project is a boy called "Beamar" and DJ GMC! In summer 2011 the debut Demo LP "Cryptic" was released for free which contains 7 DnB/Jungle songs and an epic remix. Several singles followed.
Furthermore DJ GMC released Riddims such as "Electrify Riddim (2013)" and the "Friendly Intentions Riddim (2014)" with tons of highly talented and upcoming artists. In the last2 years DJ GMC recorded several Raggajungle and Drum & Bass Mixes ("Danger!Rasss Music" and "Drum and Bass in your Face Mix" series) that all can be downloaded on his soundcloud page.
His Soundcloud page is followed by ~3,000 people and his plays reached over 255,555 plays.

Secondly, and most importantly, welcome to the Country Hi-fi sound with music to please a myriad of tastes. On an island on the very edge of Europe, Northern Ireland, an ocean away from the birthplace of reggae and not necessarily the first port of call when looking for good reggae music made inna roots and culture style. However, by making quality music inspired by a love of the music from Jamaica and the ethos behind it's creation, Country Hi-fi is doing it's best to put Northern Ireland firmly on the reggae map.

The name 'Country Hi-fi' is related to the country upbringing of founding member 'Pugs' while also being a tribute to the late great King Tubby and his pioneering sound which echoes far and wide. The Country Hi-fi sound was brought to life in a project called 'Small Town Roots' (available on iTunes) which involved two friends: hip-hop producer/DJ/MC DAZ (www.soundcloud.com/dazmusic) and Pugs (reggae fan and self-taught musician) practically living in a studio for a week with each side bringing their own ingredients to the mix. The result was a series of songs inspired by the roots reggae traditions while telling stories through the songs, which relate to various events in Pugs' life growing up in a small country town.

The Country Hi-fi sound is dedicated to making music with the original enthusiasm and willingness to experiment as our pioneering brothers and sisters in Jamaica so although you can expect to hear lots of one-drop reggae, ska, rocksteady, lovers rock etc. don't be surprised to hear some digital dancehall, house, hip-hop, or even some UK hip-hop/grime style beats, and various remixes, mash ups, and versions: feel free to download and share any tracks you like and spread the word. 

With Pugs working as a one-man-band, engineer, producer, and occasional songwriter, he has managed to work on projects with artists from all over the globe and is always open and happy to collaborate with other artists on whatever the project may be, so don't be afraid to use the drop box, respond to requests on tracks, or send a message about any enquiries you may have.

Pugs also presents a weekly reggae show on Skank FM (an online radio station in Belfast, Northern Ireland, www.skankfm.com) from 6-8pm (GMT) bringing the best in caribbean vibes with tracks from way back in the day to the hottest tracks in the Jamaican chart and everything else in between from hip-hop, DnB, soul, grime, and reggae from  all around the world. Get on board and tune in for an education in reggae music and all it has to offer.
