CHUCKY, whose real name is Mishka Andjelo, was born in 1993 and discovered his passion for music at a young age. After taking private lessons from a Russian piano teacher, he supported various events during his school days to try himself as a DJ. Through calssic, house music and hip-hop he found sympathy for African electronic beats, so that he has been able to establish himself as a performing artist in the urban scene since 2015.

The first collaboration between Rio de Janeiro-born singer, Ramus and American/Brazilian producer, Maga Bo.  

Along with the obvious Baile Funk elements,  the track makes references to Brega funk and "pisêro," from the Northeast of Brazil to  London's Dub Step and even Jamaican Ska.  

The lyrics revolve around a popular Brazilian slang expression, "Daquele Jeitão,"  which loosely translates as "That Way." Reflecting on the chemical dependencies of our time, it questions, without judgment, to what extent this escape is good for us.

J. Ramus aka Ramus, a singer from Rio with a great influence from Samba and Rio funk in his melodies, began his journey with Sound system in 2001. Today he is part of the Itapuca dub sound team and his reinterpretation band Ramus e a Massa.

PREMIERE: DAVID HARROW - End Of Times Ft Little Annie (Rude Audio's Protean Remix)

After a brief hiatus, Late Night Burners re-enters the party with a fresh reissue in the Still Burning series, the first of a few that will drop throughout 2024. And again, the adventure was found close by. Roland Klinkenberg operates under many clever aliases (Simsalabim!) but arguably his biggest moment as a producer was the progressive trance tune “Inner Laugh”, which was remixed by none other than Border Community founder James Holden. And when those kinds of tunes get cross-bred with uptempo house and menacing techno, you get “SIM 01 / Trance Textures 2”. Originally released as the first record on his own Sim label in 1995, these tunes were part of the beginning of Roland’s long and illustrious career. You’ll understand it when you hear it. No remixes this time, just the four OG cuts remastered from the DAT tapes with love, respect, and tenderness.

Fostering the garage band stereotypes since his early years, Martim Tonic fell by the widely held house music. Originally from the simple guitar slaps to counter-drum hits, you can find a lot of these elements in his music.

The Portuguese-based producer makes his debut "Island Hopping" on Diversity Collective with a three-tune EP.
'Kornati opens groovin' fire, assembling a set of deep pads and its companion evocative synths. The theme 'Silba comes next, slowing down the grooves by emerging an enraged bass among its decaying hats. Wrappin' things up, 'Kornati's remix from C4STRO, delivers a downtempo re-interpretation, with an intensified layering of synth drives, in a slow-paced rhythm.

After the much acclaimed Daniel Haaksman edit for "Curimão" by Fernando Falcão, comes another Haaksman rework in the shape of "Ondas" (Portuguese for "Waves"). It´s #2 in the recently launched "More Black Atlantica Edits" series.

"Ondas" is an edit of an unreleased track by the mysterious Malandros De Berlim, a four piece German-Brasilian outfit that only released one 7" single in West Germany the mid 1970s and then disbanded.

"Ondas" is a deep rare groove samba, which easily lets the listener picture a late afternoon surf ride in the waves of Arpoador beach in Rio De Janeiro. It´s a beautiful deep track for the laid back DJs or the wee small hours sets that will create warm waves across any dancefloor.

“Speaker-bangin’ before all else” (XLR8R) with “some of the smartest ears in the game” (Chicago Reader), “few can make a room explode like Maga Bo” (Flavorpill). A purveyor of “international sonic weaponry and rhythm knowledge” (Rough Trade), the Rio de Janeiro-based DJ/producer is a veteran pioneer of global bass music, with 20+ years of dedicated experience searching out unheralded music bumping from speaker-boxes in the world’s grittiest corners, from Addis Ababa to Zanzibar. 

Maga Bo’s sophisticated approach to international sounds comes from in-person, on-site collaboration with other artists. He has worked on location in Morocco, India, Ethiopia, Senegal, Zanzibar, and South Africa, to name just a few, while delving into a whirlwind of local styles: chaâbi, asmari music, taraab, manganiyar folk music, masqanda, and mbalax. All instruments and vocals come straight from the source. His original riddims and recordings, enriched by the presence of live vocalists and percussion, and enhanced by the philosophies of hip-hop and dub, take the global bass DJ set to a new level, one driven by first-hand experience searching open-air markets instead of just searching the web. 

His current work explores the contours of Afro-Brazilian culture and includes collaborations with the brightest talents in Brazil’s vast musical landscape. An immigrant himself, Maga Bo put down roots in his adopted hometown of Rio -- a cultural melting pot like no other where he has produced baile funk MCs and played drums in his neighborhood samba school. Journeys to Brazil’s northeast region have resulted in recording sessions with unsung folklore heroes Grupo Bongar and Samba de Coco Raízes de Arcoverde. 

A globally in-demand performer, Maga Bo has graced stages from India to Ethiopia to Brazil, at major summer festivals across Europe, and on tour in North America and Australia. He has performed at WOMAD UK, WorldWide, Sydney Festival, WOMEX, Transmediale and Mundial. He’s collaborated with Buraka Som Sistema’s Kalaf, Max Normala aka Ninja of South African rap-rave outfit Die Antwood, Ethio-Jazz godfather Mulatu Astatke, Bollywood star Shilpa Rao, and Brazilian chart toppers BaianaSystem and BNegão, and released critically acclaimed remixes for Asian Dub Foundation, Batida, Bomba Estéreo, Poirier, Filastine, and Systema Solar. 

Maga Bo’s groundbreaking debut full-length album, Archipelagoes, was released on DJ /rupture's Soot Records in 2008 after recording sessions in Senegal, Tanzania, Morocco and South Africa with heavyweight local rappers and musicians. His second full-length, Quilombo do Futuro, landed at #1 on the iTunes Brazilian music chart and #1 on the Rhapsody world music album of the year. The album was lauded by the New York Times as “a cultural manifesto riding on rhythm” and by National Public Radio (NPR) as “defin[ing] a kind of virtual refuge for traditional culture, giving it a welcome place in the techy global music soundscape of the 21st century." 

His track, ”No Balanço da Canoa,” garnered over half a million views on Youtube and was featured in Grand Theft Auto V and the opening ceremony of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He’s released music on Jarring Effects, Tru-Thoughts, Ninja Tune, Sound Way, ZZK, Cumbancha and many others. 

He currently releases confrontational, bass-heavy digital roots music from all over Brazil on Kaxambu Records and is an integrant of the live tropical-electro soundsystem band, Sociedade Recreativa. 

Having performed and worked in over 50 countries, Maga Bo walks the walk of the real globalization. Music is the weapon in a world of cultural appropriation, wide-spread poverty and mass migrations.
