UK based Tecwaa background is in the early Yorkshire rave scene, which makes you understand his music on a deeper level. His tasteful turning of knobs on the Roland 303 takes you back to in time to an early morning somewhere round 1990 with a diesel generator pushed to the limit roaring somewhere in the background. But Tecwaa music is a lot more than a trip in time: the sound is modern and extremely well produced where the few but exquisite sounds hook in to each other naturally and creates a round solid groove. 
The sound varies from airy and light in ”Xentaeh” to warmer and heavier in the other track ”Ci”. What goes for the sound overall is the somewhat surprising elements in how the songs develop, both in rhythm and sound wise. Teecwa music bare traces of trance, rave, early techno and so on but you could call it ”uplifting, psychedelic leftfield electro” and this is his first release on Höga Nord Rekords.

The river was the only route out of the city. It stretched for miles and miles, ebbing and flowing with the breeze that carried it along. Dark green leaves and sprawling branches formed a canopy over the water, protecting this natural place from prying eyes. It felt peaceful, a place for escaping the stresses of city life. In fact, this river held many secrets, stories that would make your hair stand on end. Its beauty was simply a facade...

Next up on XXX, the Dutch label run by DJ and producr SHMLSS, is good friend and Bordello A Parigi alumni Stijn Sadée. After two contributions to earlier releases for the label, he's now set to release his first original EP on the label, which features a remix from Smala boss Manfredas that they locked in after the Lithuanian producer saw Stijn play live last year. The aesthetics of the label are down to Stijn's brother Thomas who worked closely with him to create something that fitted with the music and his influences.

Stash Magnetic make analog driven, hybrid electronica and now land on Al Mackenzie's Field Of Dreams Recordings next to remixes from Dan Wainwright, Retroforward and Richard Sen. After being summoned from Ohio to London by Adrian Sherwood, Nick Riggio and Rebecca Magnetic have brought their Midwest musical experience to the South London electronic music scene with a unique creative vision. Fusing elements of techno, post-punk and psychedelic rock they explore spiritual connections and transcendence while Rebecca Magnetic's introspective vocals set against a tough backdrop of Detroit influenced rhythms and vibrations leave you in awe. Their superb single 'My Future' is a brilliantly cosmic exploration of spaced out and spacious grooves. Crashing hits bring an edgy mood, while lurching drums drag you forwards. Molten acid synths and the strained and pained vocals from Rachel add further layers of intrigue to this most adventurous electronic trip. First to remix is Oosh! man Dan Wainwright, and his version is laced up with sci-fi chords and echoing vocal sounds. The downtempo drum rotations are superbly heavy and trap you in a trance. Next up, Retroforward is Al Mackenzie's solo remix/music project named after his successful Birmingham night. Al is also in Field Of Dreams and pop dance act D:ream. His ‘No Future’ remix is an airy and atmospheric remix that takes the track to the farthest edges of space on smooth. hypnotic grooves and beautifully astral melodies. Lastly, Richard Sen has already been getting support for his remix from ALFOS man Sean Johnston, and he goes for a superbly rugged yet slow motion chugger that is dubbed out and expansive thanks to the arching guitar riffs that ring out to the heavens above fat-bottomed drums. Whether experienced on the dance floor or in metaphysical states, this music is medicine for the mind and body.

“I’ll have another”, he slurred, leaning like a toppled monument against the stained mahogany. As the bartender handed him the frothing jar of foggy brown fluid, the drinker’s eyes flickered asynchronously. His crotch was soggy, the stench forming an invisible force-field around his lump of a body.

Steve Pepe has a preference for album-length works. He is yet to release a 12” single, instead releasing LPs: one on John Talabot’s Hivern Discs in 2018, the other on Lyon’s Macadam Mambo label in January this year. His second album of 2020 comes on Inside Out records and is called Vivere in Diagonale: “Living Diagonally”. 

As you might expect, the sound is slanted. Its beats stomp with lead-heavy boots and damp-jeans dub echo, always leaning to the leftfield. Our premiere, 'Oltraggiosa Musica', sounds like slapped-bass jazz funk on 33rpm. In reverse. Played by a medieval Italian coven. With most tracks stretching to a seven minute meditation, the intoxicating effects of slow time - conjured to a heavily sedated rhythm - are revealed.

PREMIERE: Steve Pepe - Oltraggiosa Musica [Inside Out Records]

It starts off with Robi Insinna’s version of Your Way by The Lunacy Of Flowers. The Lunacy Of Flowers is a one man post-industrial act from London with a huge body of unreleased material made from fake hallucinations mixed in Black and White.
He used an MS-20, Juno 106, Micro Korg, Epiphone Les Paul Junior, borrowed bass Guitar, SM58 microphone, All Drums Sequenced on FL4 and mixed on a home computer. Robi Insinna added and reworked the original version. The Dub version was done in a real style dub session using an analog mixer and external reverbs, effects and tape delays.
