Der Chemiecocktail 

Tagtäglich konsumieren wir Giftstoffe, Chemikalien und ursprünglich ungenießbare Substanzen. Diese werden zumeist in Pulverform, in industriell gefertigten Lebensmitteln und Getränken verarbeitet. In den Fabriken wird je nach Hersteller und Produkt, ein ganzes Sortiment an Zusatzstoffen verwendet. Je nach Bestimmung müssen diese körnigen Helferlein auf der Verpackung deklariert werden, andere wiederum sind davon befreit. Verbraucher können eig. nur über die Zutatenliste herausfinden, was und wie viel sich in der Packung befindet. Mit bloßem Auge oder auch dem Gaumen, ist für einen ungeschulten Probanden, keines der Hilfsmittel eindeutig identifizierbar. 

Wie wirkt sich diese Entwicklung der Nahrung auf die Gesundheit der Menschen aus?
Zusatzstoffe werden vor ihrer Freigabe geprüft. Jedoch gibt es in der Industrie Deklarationstricks und Gegebenheiten, wodurch bestimmte Inhalte eines Produkts nicht oder nur missverständlich aufgeführt werden müssen. Viele der verwendeten Chemikalien, besonders die E-Nummern  gelten als gesundheitsschädlich. Generell können hochgradig verarbeitete Lebensmittel Allergien, Krebs und Organschäden, zumindest begünstigen. Manchmal ist weniger einfach mehr. Vielleicht auch bei deinem nächsten Einkauf <3

The Dance We’ve Been Waiting For

Welcome back to the Magician On Duty Podcast Series!

On this weeks' edition we welcome Philip Chedid.

Noted for his versatility and musical range, Philip attributes much of his influences to his Middle Eastern heritage and western upbringing. In his young years, Philip was an avid percussionist, and played with his brother Julien and some high school mates, performing as musical act Elemental. Much of Philip's early nightlife experience began in the late 90s in Montreal at various events, many hosted by 514 Productions, Sona and Redlite. Over the years, he began working more frequently in the studio on original productions and remixes, and further developed his audio engineering skills. A few of Philip's early studio mentors are Nick Warren, Habersham, Darin Epsilon to name a few.

While in Miami Philip had the opportunity to play in distinguished clubs like Vagabond and Nikki and enjoyed residencies at TSL Lounge, Treehouse, Do Not Sit on the Furniture, among others. 

Chedid performed with some of the world's most celebrated artists from all dance music genres, such as Nick Warren, Jody Wisternoff, Dave Seaman, Eelke Kleijn, Marc Marzenit, Guy Mantzur, Sahar Z, Darin Epsilon, Clarian, Einmusik, Omid 16B, Thomas Schumacher, Tamer Malki, Vanilla Ace, H-Foundation, Jody Wisternoff, Danny Howells, Miyagi, Jozif, Of Norway, Mikey Lion, Tara Brooks, Flavio Navarro, Zach Walker, Jonathan Will, Derek Hena, Aninha, among others.

Philip is also the co founder of "Endless Sands Of Time" Records along with Dübelu.

The 30th and milestone story of our series is marked by the wonderful Portuguese duo Ohxalá. It is with great pleasure to host this rare sound on our series. Porto - Portugal. "Banho Maria" is the Portuguese expression for a slow-cooking technique used to melt chocolate. Enjoy two hours of slow, melting sounds enhanced by Ohxalá's unique touches.

Ohxalá is the musical project of Maria & Luis who live in Porto, Portugal Their tracks are part of several mixtapes around the world within the growing wave of ethnobeats. In 2017 they released their debut EP “O Futuro do Passado” in Casa Caos (BR), Dona Cuíca EP on Cosmic Awakenings (US) and more recently the Sereias do Planeta Vermelho Ep on Ready Mix Records (CA) with remixes from acclaimed producers such as M. Rux, Lemurian, Dandara, Discoshaman, Intiche, Nillo & Maracuyá, MiRET, Thommie G and Rodrigo Gallardo.

The duo is eager to explore a thematic cut with a focus on Portuguese, Brazilian and African culture, inspired by the strong rhythmic foundation of popular and ancient music. Their productions are full of field recordings and booming bass lines and they did not skimp on the effort to incorporate traditional ethnic folk elements into contemporary electronic music - which is what makes this project a unique musical experience.

This voyage is a live recording of the duo's DJ set at a Banho Maria party in Maus Hábitos.
