For the second part of no. 39, Kiosk ID delivers four distinct reinterpretations of Katy and Hybrid Catalysis: Julian Koerndl, Motip White, ĀEMYGDALA, and Johannes Klingebiel follow up Naethan’s emotionally rich electro-acoustic palette, projecting it into new, dancefloor-driven dimensions.   

Julian Koerndl strips Katy to its bare percussive essence, conjuring troves of relentless staccato energy. Barrages of squelching 16th-note basslines collide with malfunctioning samplers and glitched-out beeps and blips in a choppy reduction to undiluted dancefloor power—tight, tough, and unapologetically physical.   

Motip White transforms Katy into an anthemic technoid vision, anchoring its trippy and emotional core in a searing percussive framework of reverberating rides and shakers. Beautifully building on the original’s laser-sharp sound design and resonant, notched leads, Motip White expands on Katy’s hypnotic depths while keeping things raw, left-field, and captivating.   

ĀEMYGDALA transform Hybrid Catalysis into a blazingly bright House journey with subtle tribal undercurrents. Potentiating the original’s dubby warmth and weightlessness, their version gently arcs ecstatic sawtooth strings and radiant chords across a compact and infectiously groovy percussive core—an incandescent four-to-the-floor journey for late nights and early mornings.   

Johannes Klingebiel offers a techier rework still, leading Hybrid Catalysis into a groove-driven world of syncopated percussion, ricocheting vocal chops, and shimmering horns. Balancing drum-centric energy with a cloud of luminous synths and delicate electric horns, his version feels both physically grounded and blissfully translucent.

Belgian-Greek artist Naethan debuts on Kiosk ID with ‘Katy’—a bold, electro-acoustic two-tracker that blends highly textured dance music with glitched-out synth work and fluttering, ethereal melodies. Instead of polished shine, Naethan leans into raw, emotional immediacy, coaxing up a one-of-a-kind soundscape—nuanced, eclectic, and with powerful soul and grit.   The title track, ‘Katy’, is a mangled, melodic ballad driven by a beautifully engineered, wildly pitching lead, soulful organs, and warm, hymnal low-end. Constantly evolving through subtle microshifts and technical finesse, Katy unspools and rearranges itself in real time, culminating in an explosion of arcing synth contortions framed by a slow-burning four-to-the-floor beat.   On ‘Hybrid Catalysis’, Naethan sets a choppy break against mournful leads, squelchy bass figures, and airy pads. Cavernous, tactile drum chops and textures form a heavy, physical undercurrent, while shimmering chimes and dub chords ripple across the frequency spectrum—spacious, angelic, and gently suspended over growling, low-end throb.   After a decade releasing under another moniker, Naethan’s alter ego was meant to return him to his roots in emotionally charged dance music. 25 has always been a mystical number in the world of Kiosk ID, woven into our story since the earliest days of Bar 25, Holzmarkt 25, and every chapter since. When midnight struck on December 31st of last year and 2025 arrived, the magic of the number was undeniable, echoing through Kater Blau, Holzmarkt, and Kiosk ID—and calling for a celebration like no other.   As our lasers lit the night, two core Kiosk ID artists—Britta Arnold and Sascha Cawa—took to the decks, weaving a spellbinding journey crafted specifically for this moment. Months in the making, they unfolded a beautifully hypnotic tribute to the magic of 25, premiering five tailor-made tracks in the process.   That moment lives on as Kiosk ID no. 40—a special double LP capturing the magic of that night. Side A features the live New Year’s recording: an unfiltered document of Britta and Sascha’s hypnotic, otherworldly, and deeply danceable set, as it unfolded in real time—strobing into the first moments of the new year.   Sides B, C, and D feature five exclusive studio originals, written and produced specifically for this night. On ‘Counting’, Britta and Sasha unfold their brand of stripped darkness and rolling groove work, while ‘Reformer’ teeters on taut coils of suspended synths.
