PREMIERE: Fairplay - Vulani (Stereo Express Remix) [Zatar Music]

Techbrainers is a brand new project formed by Sculptor, who you might remember from his two previous release on Magnitude Recordings, and his brother. With 'Valhalla EP' they release their debut.

The EP kicks off with the title track, a deep intelligent and intense progressive house cut, whilst on the flip side you'll find 'Mushroomseating', an infectious funky and playful track. The final track is titled 'Revolt' and is the deepest of the three, perfect for building up the night.

A superb debut for Techbrainers, a new name to watch!

So, we really loved the original & Timo kindly sent us the parts so we could do a mix. It doesn't really sound like anyone else, it's like a piece of art or something. Imagine Leftfield scoring an episode of Luther, this would be the closing credits.

Timo Maas - Articulation (Acid Rockers & George Thompson Remix)

Marking the 16th release on Juicebox Music, as well as the closing out 2016, Australian rising star Luka Sambe makes his debut with a 3-track EP titled ‘Becoming’. His productions have found their place in well-respected labels like Lost & Found, Mesmeric, Perspectives Digital & Traum. With a knack for creating exquisite soundscapes, along with serious attention to detail, his music portrays a sonically-lush journey that many crave in this formulaic world. With this EP, he showcases his diversity in electronica, techno & progressive house, all with the special ‘Luka’ touch.

Kicking off is the title track ‘Becoming’, where a plethora of spacey electronics & counter-melodies on a carefully programmed percussive groove drives through, occasionally visited by soaring vocals. It all eventually leads up to the break-down where a new harmonies converge to change the mood, just for a moment though, only to become what it started with. ‘Cooking With Dennis’ goes for the darker techno-inspired aura with chord-stabs & dispersed melancholic arps, building the tension up to a wonky synth-frenzy moment. ‘Lucent Amongst Black’ winds things down to a more organic & low-tempo space, encompassed with textural & sparkling sound design on a funky, yet deep shuffled groove.

Becoming

Luka Sambe - Becoming [Juicebox Music]

Kicking off Juicebox Music for 2017 is our 17th release, a single titled 'Mellifluous' from Fábio Pereira aka Li-Polymer. The Madeira (Portugal) based artist makes a come-back to the label after his stellar remix of 'Esensides - Drift Away' last year. With a growing discography including releases on "Movement", "Soundteller" and Hernan Cattaneo's "Sudbeat" along with highly-acclaimed remixes, his productions has now become a staple in countless DJ's record bags. Li-Polymer's latest offering, 'Mellifluous', is a haunting & moody number, with a nice chunky groove that sounds soothing to the ear while at the same time, sonically impactful with it's heavy low-end and crisp percussion. Staying true to the organic quality that we've known him for. 

We called upon Germany's Konstantin Alt, aka LoQuai, for his debut appearance on the label as the first remixer. As a progressive house veteran, his understanding of the musical space and grooves has earned his music to be found in many labels like Balkan Connection, Particles, Bonzai Progressive, Stellar Fountain as well as his very own Refined Tunes. LoQuai stays true to Li-Polymer's original mood & groove, reworking it in his own sound while subtlety adding a new atmospheric dimension and delicate groove edits to reflect his vision. 

The second remix comes from India's very own Karthik Sivasankar, aka Tatsama, who makes his return to the label after his track 'Open Spaces' on the 'Elements - Volume 1' release caught the attention of many. Following which, he's put out some captivating music on Suffused Music and Wind Horse Records. Showing his diversity and unlike his more laid back 'Open Spaces', Tatsama shifts into a higher gear for his interpretation of 'Mellifluous' with an aggressive drive, shuffled grooves & restless euphoric break yet staying restrained and composed with it's delivery.

Magnitude Recordings was started by @francescopico in 2005. The label quickly gained international recognition in the tech house- and progressive house scenes, working with well respected artists such as Eelke Kleijn (as Backroom Boyz, a collab with Francesco Pico himself), Ferreck Dawn, Roell Sapphire, Harold Heath and Camiel Daamen to name a few, which gained a lot of DJ support. 

After a seven year hiatius the label returned in 2018 under de wings of the @manual-music record company. Freshly revamped and serving as a home for the sound Francesco Pico loves most; intelligent, groovy and rolling progressive house. Kamilo Sanclemente, Not Demure, Ewan Rill, K Loveski, Golan Zocher, Callecat, Jaap Ligthart, Paul Hazendonk and Ric Niels are a small cross-section of the artists that call Magnitude Recordings their home nowadays, making Magnitude a brand operating at the forefront of the modern day progressive house scene.
