this new piece is a continuation of an ongoing and possibly neverending collaboration between Adrian Knight and Chris Cerrone. there are four tracks:

I Like Music (Magnus Bunnskog - I Like Music)

YourEye’s premier opus “Russia” is based on field recordings from the artist’s trip to Moscow, St. Petersburg and their sur- roundings in the summer of 2007. The trip was documented in the form of ephemeral poetic memories. The titles are derived from sonic flashbacks.

Inspired by acts such as Matmos, Chris Clark, Aphex Twin, Autechre and Squarepusher, YourEye’s music fuses elements of experimental and popular music practices. The sounds on “Russia” are pushed to the front of the mix. Furthermore, its rough and emotional mojo reaches to the realms of ecological sound practitioners such as R. Murray Schafer and Francisco Lopez. Not surprisingly, the Moscow Market track became a finalist in the European Sound Panorama 2011 music contest, which focused on the creative portrayal of European soundscapes. 

The character of the album arises from working with rough and often unedited materials, embracing clicks, pops, squeaks and noises. Similar to the process of discovering new places, this music is impregnated with bewilderment and surprise. Each track presents a particular place as heard through the aesthetic ears of a particular genre, form and timbral focus. 

Distillation of pure energy from past experiences permeates “Russia;” the music primarily promotes immedi- acy and roughness as tokens of ultimate sonic beauty. Cur- rent techniques of house, techno, trance, experimental and minimal are coarsened, as if scraped over with sand paper. The tracks are emotionally charged, as the flow of the music pushes forward. 

The music may be heard as a reflection of the sharp social juxtapositions in Russia through the knitted jungle of noises, sediment voices, kitsch and tastelessness. The struggle to reconcile various musical styles and techniques perhaps stems from the multitude of social and cultural histories that cohabit contemporary Russia. The album suggests new ways in which they might interact––that is, at least in the sonic domain!

Kolokol (YourEye - Russia)

A longtime friend and an excellent composer of darkly demure orchestral and chamber music, Fredrik Gran stirs things up with his own, unique brand of electronic music on this anthology, An Hour and a Half. The music alternately simmers and churns, always threatening to explode. The five pieces force their way through a noir soundworld, picking up and disposing of static and debris as they move along. Fredrik describes the opening track: “In number theory, with the “Euclidean algorithm,” you can determine the greatest common divisor of two elements. I have earlier worked with the use of this algorithm to determine where rhythms meet. In El Algoritmo del Antagonista I have tried to cheat, break and go against this and other rules.” In Frau Tot ist tot. Sie lebt nicht mehr., Fredrik worked with acoustic feedback to build a similarly kinetic experience. The title track, An Hour and a Half, has been performed about a dozen times throughout Europe. It’s a meeting between the organic and the mechanical, a restless exploration of the minute, clandestine workings of manmade time. Play this record loud on a good stereo or listen with good headphones.

Fredrik Gran is an composer from from Stockholm, Sweden. He writes orchestral, instrumental and vocal chamber music as well as electroacoustic and live electronic music. Fredrik currently resides in Montréal, Quebec, Canada.

An Hour and a Half (Fredrik Gran - An Hour and a Half)

This is "Time Of My Life," the third full-length album of compositions by Adrian Knight, released digitally worldwide on October 31, 2011. The tracks were written, performed and recorded in 2007-2009 in Stockholm, Sweden. The record is bookended by two long piano pieces, the first one, "Abide With Me," is a take on the classic hymn, and the second one, "Liebeslied September 29 2008," is a half hour long piece originally written as a birthday gift. These works were born out of the encounter with a very special piano in a studio at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. "Border Fence" (electric guitar and loop sampler) was recorded live in November 2007 in an apartment in Gärdet, Stockholm. "Pink Pamphlet 2" stems from early 2009 and consists entirely of voice loops.

Moreover, these works are linked to each other by the particular times and places they were recorded, as well as their "private" nature (none of these tracks, with the exception of "Pink Pamphlet 2," were considered for release).
