Willkommen zur letzten Ausgabe des Dragonsfire Donnerstages. Vielen Dank an alle, die unsere Mini-Serie hier verfolgt haben. Wir hoffen ihr habt einen 
besseren Einblick in die Welt von Dragonsfire erhalten und freut euch genauso sehr wie wir, dass wir im Sommer wieder ins Studio gehen um eine neue Scheibe aufzunehmen.

Heute: Lost Melody vom Album Metal Service 2010

Lost Melody ist eines der melodischsten Dragonsfire Stücke. (Wer hätte DAS gedacht?) Die Stophen haben zwar noch einen eher treibenden Rhythmus, doch geht dieser in einem breiten Chorus mit half-time feel über, der dem Song seinen Charakter verleiht. Der letzte Song auf dem Metal Service Album ist hymnenartig und kommt mit viel Background-Chor daher. Am Ende wird sogar noch eine Glocke ausgepackt.
Lost Melody wurde noch nie live gespielt, ist aber einer der Songs, die seit Jahren ganz weit oben auf der Liste mit "das machen wir mal" stehen. ...so viele Songs und so wenig Zeit. :)
Thematisch huldigen wir uns und dem Metal an sich. Das machen wir ab und an ganz gerne.

Willkommen zum dritten Teil des Dragonsfire-Donnerstags.
Hier eine kurze Erklärung worum es geht: Jede Woche Donnerstag stellen wir einen unserer Songs in den Player. Dazu gibt es die Lyrics und ein paar Worte zum Song selbst.
So hört ihr auch mal Songs, die nicht auf jedem Konzert zu hören sind. Aber eure Faves werden natürlich auch mit dabei sein.
In der Woche darauf wird der Song wieder aus dem Player verschwunden sein. Dann ist der Nächste an der Reihe.

Heute: Wings Of Death vom Album Visions Of Fire 2008

Die Entstehung des Songs begann 2008 im Proberaum. Zu jener Zeit existierte ein Song mit dem Namen "Far Beyond". Wir standen nur noch wenige Monate vor der Aufnahme des Visions Of Fire Albums und waren mit dem Song nicht zufrieden. Wir suchten nach einem neuen Mittelteil, um das Ganze zu verbessern. Dabei kam spontan der Chorus zu Wings of Death zu stande. Wir waren uns schnell einig, dass der Part richtig geil ist und viel mehr "Chorus-Potential" hat. Als Timo dann mit einem neuen Strophen-Riff daher kam, fügten wir beides zusammen und der neue Song nahm ganz eigene Formen an.
Live gab es den Song erstmals beim zweiten A Chance for Metal Festival zu hören. Mittlerweile gehört er zu fast jeder Dragonsfire-Show dazu. Im Gegensatz zu Far Beyond... der Song wurde nie veröffentlicht und wer den Song im Proberaum anspielt wird ausgepeitscht.
Live wird der Song außerdem meist mit dem "Wings-Move" angesagt. Einer Armbewegung, die einen Flügelschlag darstellt. Dieser Move etabliert sich auch zusehends als Tanzform zu diesem Song.
Thematisch geht es in dem Song um einen Dämon der auf die Erde gekommen ist und dort die Seelen der Sterblichen verschlingt. Vom Feeling her ist dies einer der schnelleren Dragonsfire-Songs. Bereits das Intro zeigt wohin die Reise geht: Schnelle Riffs im Wechsel mit einem melodischen Chorus, der Live zündet und sofort mitsingbar ist.

What is it all about? Well, every week we will show you one of our songs with lyrics and a few words about the song itself. The song stays online for a week, then the next one will follow. This way you will be able to hear songs you won't hear on every show. Of course your favourites will be there, too.

Today: Wing Of Death from the 2008 album Visions Of Fire

The development of this song started in our rehearsal room in 2008. By that time we had a song called Far Beyond. It was just a few months before the recording of the Visions Of Fire album was about to start and we were not pleased with Far Beyond. So we tried to make up a new mid-part to improve it. That was when the chorus for Wings Of Death came up. We agreed that this part had a lot of potential. When Timo brought a new verse-riff we put both together and a whole new song took form.
Wings Of Death is one of the songs that is played on almost every Dragonsfire show. In contrast to Far Beyond, that has never been recorded and whoever plays the song in our rehearsal room is about to get whipped.
On our shows the song is often announced with the Wings-Move. A movement of the arms like a flap of wings. This move is establishing itselft to some kind of dance.
The lyrics are about a demon that came to earth to devour the souls of the mortal. It is one of the faster songs. The intro already shows where the song will lead you: Fast riffs change with a melodic chorus that can be sung along within a few moments.
