Every journey I play is personal, and this is one of the most personal and meaningful journeys i have ever created.

The music sings for itself, but if you're curious, read on....

I've played in Berlin a few times in the past, but this time I felt called to create a more personal journey.

When I was young, i became aware of the public discussion around the issue of playing Richard Wagner in Israel, because Wagner was a "fanatical anti-semite" and his music was used by the Nazi regime. 

I felt then and feel now that his music stands by its own merit. There's also a meaning in the fact that a Jewish-Israeli DJ is choosing to play Wagner in Berlin out of his own will.

I've included excerpts from Wings of Desire (Der Himmel über Berlin), the 1987 film by Win Wenders, which has inspired me deeply since i watched it in the late 80s and throughout my life. 

I've also included both Israeli and contemporary German musicians, along with African, Brazilian, and other world music artists.

This live set has been recorded at the beautiful Bulgarian festival - Wake Up in 2022. The set features the voice of the talented Yan Dobreva and a few of her debut songs in collaboration with Sariel Orenda. The set carries the listener through a range of different cultures, combining different languages and instruments from around the world. Almost all new tracks featuring Yan Dobreva are in Bulgarian language and take some of their roots in the mystical Bulgarian folklore by adding a new modern touch in a steady hypnotic rhythm.

I couldn't have imagined a more dreamy European Apukuna debut than this night here! A few hundred beautiful beings welcomed in the evening and became a part of my dream. The night offered some valuable wisdom on just how DEEP a dancefloor can go when the people who show up are holding the space with abounding hearts, clear intentions, and immense impeccability. For more than half of the two-hour set, the radical love dancers held their attention and focus into the center of the dancefloor. Everyone became a facilitator. This was Radical Love at its finest. And with that focus, something deep was generated in the middle. Pure magic! Offered to you as a meditation, a movement, and a prayer for an awakening heart.  - @Apukuna

Since 2020 Manuel is again actively playing music as a DJ, mainly for Ecstatic Dance, under the name 'Mahaū'. Already in his early youth he had his first attempts behind the turntables. Between 2008-2015 he recorded and released various mix sets as a DJ under the synonym 'beatcook / beatCuisine'.

Playing the handpan has been enriching his musical repertoire for more than three years and over time binaural beats, natural sounds, mantras and other digital sounds have become part of his music.
He especially loves Ecstatic Dance, Trance Dance and Cosmic Sound Journeys. In 2021 Mama Cacao came into his life and started healing this heart, so that he can share the healing process through music and dance.
