About this EP :
We are excited to present the latest release from the collaboration between
Dj Farrapo and Carlo Maver. This time, the single features the debut of Spanish
singer Clara Andrés, whose delicate and smooth vocals add a fresh touch to the
song. The unique melodies played by Carlo on the Colombian flute gaita give
the song a truly captivating sound to this smooth cumbia!
The release also includes two remixed versions, one by the Brazilian DJ Nirso,
who brings a Northeastern Brazilian Electro-Côco flair, the second remix is by
the Italian producer Ka:lu, who gives the song a tech-house twist.

Coming off a run of singles and an LP on Ubiquity Records, UK DJ/Producer Tigerbalm (aka Rose Robinson) brings her vibrant global sound to the RNT catalog with the Nina EP. Of the two original songs that grace the A side, Nina is a pulsing boogie affair with driving percussion, catchy chants and punctuating sax, and Sisters is shows a more balearic side of tropical with African guitar work and lilting soulful vocals. The B-side sees two distinct remix takes on the title track, the first by RNT regular Elado who bumps up the tempo for a stomping acidic club mix, and Voilaaa who transforms the song into a driving and authentic classic Zouk arrangement. Here comes the new exciting release by ARIMA SOUL musical project from the Basque Country. 

In this case, a real vinyl collectors item, exactly a limited edition of 7" double single on vinyl 45 rpm. Including different songs of diverse styles, something characteristic of the ARIMA SOUL group, hence the title "Disco·Funk·Reggae·Dub" and with the indisputable and talented art&design by the great Txarly Brown from Barcelona. 

On side A of the first disc, we find a remix of the soulful song "Gu Andereak" taken to the realm of disco-funk, produced by the great DJ and producer VOODOOCUTS based in Berlin and specialized in revitalizing vintage sounds of jazz, soul, r&b, funk , afro, latino,... 

On side B of the first disc, we find a cover recently recorded by the group at Elkar estudioa, of the classic "Lady Day & John Coltrane" great song composed & performed by genius GIL SCOTT-HERON. 

On sides A and B of the second disc, we find “Amets” track featured on the group's first release, in this case a re-mixed vocal reggae song and its corresponding dub version, by the hand of ROBERTO SANCHEZ, undisputed master of Spanish Reggae & Dub sound, straight from his A-LONE ARK Muzik Studio in Cantabria (Spain).

We are pleased to exclusively present to you the first remix taken from “Descarga Libre”, the album released by Makala & Jimmy Bidaurreta at the beginning of the 2019 year through Orrua Diskak, Mikel Makala's music label. The great Navarrese DJ and producer @nachopiek has remixed “Irratian”, the fifth cut of the notable work of the Basque musicians in which they fuse styles such as Latin, Jazz, Soul, Funk, Descarga and Nuyorican Salsa, as well as elements of the new trends in dance music. For this new version, the Navarrese producer adapts the original to the dance floors, maintaining the Jazz essence that the song gives off but adding a faster beat, which walks between house and disco accompanied by acid overtones and eighties synths. He has also dispensed with the voices to achieve a more energetic and direct effect on the track, more focused to the dance-floor.

During this period they've been organizing multiple events: parties with international and local guest DJs, such as Alice Russell & TM Juke, Nickodemus, Captain Planet, Tahira, Dusty, Txarly Brown, Jesús Bombín,... to name a few, collaborations with some festivals, shows and tours across Europe,... To celebrate this first decade, DJ Makala, the man behind since the beggining, has made a compilation with 20 tracks, describing the trajectory of Global Funk with differents songs, remixes, re-edits, re-works,... produced by themselves, which has been a kind of soundtrack of the collective during whole this first decade. Let's Dance in Baskenland!

The Basque DJ, producer & musician, Makala is back! After two years of  “Unexpected Tapas” (Lovemonk © 2011), nominated to best world music album of Spanish Independent music awards 2012 (UFI), Makala strikes again with a new project called MJFB and a new label called Orrua Diskak. This time, Mikel “Makala” Unzurrunzaga Schmitz (Bass) has formed an organic group called Makala Jazz Funk Band, with some local brilliant musicians like Antxon Sarasua (Keyboards), Ander Ederra (Guitar) & Juan Otegi (Drums). The repertory goes from styles of Jazz & Rhythm’n'Blues of 50′s & 60′s to styles of Groove Jazz Funk & Disco Afro Soul of 70′s. This Spring, they’ve recorded an EP called “Orrua”, containing four explosive songs plus one bonus track. This EP Single of MJFB starts with an instrumental cover of “Wack Wack”, classic original tune of Young-Holt Unlimited, American Soul and Jazz instrumental musical ensemble from Chicago, Illinois. The second track called “Orrua” is a kind of Jazz, Rhythm’n'Blues, Ye-Ye & Surf instrumental song. Is the one and only original tune of MJFB on their first release. Also it is included on this EP another bonus track of this song called “Orrua (Alternate Take Surf Mix)”. The third cut, “Live It Up” is a Jazz Funk revision tune of James K-Nine, originally recorded on 1973. It seems that the great Eddie Bo was behind this original song. On the fourth track, we have a 70′s Disco Afro Soul style instrumental cover of “Heavy Heavy Heavy” song, originally composed & recorded by the great Geraldo Pino, Sierra Leone’s famous Funk artist. All tracks has been recorded at Antoine Renault Studio (Zarautz, Basque Country), mixed at Euridia Studios (Bilbao, Basque Country) and mastered at Studio Schoenrock (Stuttgart, Germany). Graphic design and illustrations are made by Txarly Brown from Barcelona.
