When we asked Chrissy to provide a mix for our series, there was no guessing to what it would sound like. Chrissy's knowledge of music goes above and beyond what I could ever dream of having tapped into the world of house, ghettotech, footwork, jungle, hardcore, disco and more. He is credited for organising one of the first international tours for footwork dancers and founded the juke/footwork label Loose Squares. Through this mix, Chrissy looks back to those days, powering through an insane amount of tracks in one hour. 

"I wanted to go back to my roots, and the juke/ghettotech scene I ran in back in the '00s," Chrissy says. "The DJ style in that world was always so distinctive: high BPMs, lots of sped-up records, a mix of new and old, a free-wheeling approach to genre, and really rapid-fire mixing, with a new track coming in every minute or two. It's been a long time since I've regularly played out in this style, and it felt good to record a mix getting back into this vibe"

Darkstar’s long-awaited return is upon us - the duo's latest full length Civic Jams is a brooding affair full of low-lit textures and quietly forceful songs. This mix, recorded in one take during the current heatwave of 2020's lockdown club-less summer, we hear a selection of records the pair have been listening to recently while recording the album. "We've been buying what you might deem as quintessential 'electronic music' recently, 303's, 808's, square basslines etc.. Kinda big boomy dancefloor stuff and I've also been buying records that have a live feel, like a group of people in a room jamming and we've thrown a few of those in between all the big bass heavier stuff. It's a one take timmy mix, got a few nudges in here and there, that's how you know it's all done on the spot. It's good for the sun and the weekend coming so hope people get into it.'

what feels like a lifetime ago, straight from the Club Bubble 1 headquarters on May 25, 2020 ~ my set for virtual Industry Brunch. what would have been the rave family gathering under the acid soaked sun in Detroit, with quarantine in full effect Industry Brunch instead took to the world wide web.  NBFC love was strong in the chat for a day of amazing music from some of the loveliest people i have ever come to know ~ my rave family (Sassmouth, Acid Daddy b2b Dana, Pat Bosman, Christina Chatfield, Shawn Rudiman, Titonton Duvante, ViiV, Clinker)
