South London’s multi-instrumental producer INTALEKT presents ‘THE MASTA RETURNS’ the epic sequel to his 2019 release ‘The Adventures Of Masta Splinta’.

Alongside his solo projects, Intalekt has collaborated with such respected artists as Kojey Radical, Jay Prince, Marie Dahlstrom and Lex Amor. Intalekt has been previously supported by publications CLASH,The Line Of Best Fit, RWD Mag, Complex UK, Trench & Stereofox.

‘THE MASTA RETURNS’ is a Jazz / Beats concept album that amalgamates sophisticated live instrumentation and cinematic MIDI production work. The MASTA, having momentarily reached a point of enlightenment, suddenly finds he must set sail again for new adventures, fighting the never ending battle of mind against spirit. The project appeals at once to the educated musician, the Beats head and the peace seeking warrior within us all.

Intalekt has released 2 singles from the project prior to it’s release. ‘SEE, KING’ is a double edged metaphor for the seeking of peace of mind, and the necessity of being able to see yourself as your greatest self. Follow up single ‘RESOLVE’ marks the slow sonic ascent from battles and adventures - when the obstacles to peace of mind have been defeated.

As an accomplished pianist and drummer, Intalekt has applied his musical intuition to ‘THE MASTA RETURNS’ to significantly evolve the Beats form within 10 tracks of expertly affected ethereal soundscapes that swirl like the ghosts of the ancient past. A blend of quantised and Dilla-esque drum production propel Modal guitar and melodic synths that cascade alongside a horn section. The project inspires imagery ranging from breezes whispering in the rushes to chariots galloping triumphantly away from crumbling empires.

The project will be released in both digital and physical vinyl format. There will also be a limited comic available to buy illustrated by The Asian Loner, that bridges the gap between ‘The Adventures Of Masta Splinta’ and ‘THE MASTA RETURNS’. It will give an identity to THE MASTA and thus Intalekt, for THE MASTA is a metaphor for the many trials of his mind.
