Much anticipated release from Zai Tang approaches - water and electricity as one.

Whilst traveling across land and sea, Zai Tang has discovered unique sounds that imbue each place with a distinctive character and identity. The Sãgara EP sails through 4 electronic waterscapes into unprecedented territories, fusing these seldom-listened to sonic reflections of our world with immersive rhythms for bodies in motion. This EP marks his first official music release with Emerging Species.

'Sãgara' is a musical whirlpool, spinning electronic frequencies with aquatic field recordings. Built upon the rhythmic motor of a Filipino long-tail boat, 'Sampan' sets off into choppy seas with colourful rave-wise sounds lapping at the side of the vessel. Amidst moonlit waves, 'Shima' submerges the listener in turbulent tidal currents before entering a volatile underwater vortex. Drifting along the banks of the Thames we encounter the swaying, ambient textures of 'Shanty', wherein a recording of 4 old men singing 'Lowlands Away’ can be heard beneath the surface. In reference to Hokusai’s The Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife, 'Shokushu' emerges out of the mythical ocean mist to stimulate the senses with its slippery sonorous tentacles, coiling around our ears with its strange and sadistic dance.

Since 2006, Zai's solo and collaborative creations have been exhibited in many spaces and places from Singapore to New York to Venice, encompassing installation art, film, dance and music. His work was recently shown at the Saatchi Gallery, with more exhibitions in Singapore and the UK following that. His live music performances leave a lasting impression, and his UK EP show in December 2013 will be an opportunity to be fully immersed into Zai’s sonorous environment.

Absolutely menacing acid from Bordeaux’s Djedjotronic in a new two track EP "RANDJO," joined by labelmate Cardopusher and Defekt. Following his haunting “Strapon” EP earlier this year, "RANDJO" proves it wasn’t an isolated excursion into darkness- in fact this could be Djedjo at his darkest. Summer is over, the temperature is dropping, the nights are getting longer, and it might damn well be believable that its all this release’s fault.
Most are unaware that Al Jourgensen of Ministry, in their pre-guitar days, worked in the same studio as many of Chicago’s early house greats- that studio was TRAX- and you can almost imagine them collaborating when listening to Phuture “Acid Tracks” or Rude Boy Farley Keith’s “Give Yourself to Me.” Djedjo x Cardopusher's "RANDJO" comes from this imaginary (or not?) pairing, with a spoken word house-is-a-feeling type sample echoing over some proper EBM analogue muscle and hate. Machine gun reverberated kick drums and crushed swooshes cement the industrial influence, pun intended, resulting in a track sure to top playlists of timeless dark acid. Djedjo X Defekt's "LANCE" continues this house-industrial exploration, but this time with a relentless single note arpeggiator that morphs and twists throughout the track, hypnotizing the dance floor, using it’s redundancy to build tension until it peaks with delirious detuning synths and electro pattern drums. Jorgensen and the Chicago house guys perhaps never did end up working together, but Djedjotronic, Cardopusher, and Defekt did-- with very worthy results.
