I wrote and performed this for my first open mic on October 15th.

In my life I’ve been a peacekeeper, a retreater,
Somebody running from discomfort and tough discussions you see me I’m
Forthcoming, no more running, I’m more rugged
I’m more fucking strong than I’ve ever been, I morphed up in

-to a form that is different, I would’ve sworn I was finished,
I was cold and indifferent when I was in the throes of addiction,
In that course I was coarse crushing critical emotions within and
Then coded my cold decisions with family as cordial rejections of their cultish direction

But that has kicked the can, now I’m a different man it’s stressful
Fuck the bullshit I’m here to impress you 
I found a lyrical refuge for the years that I went through
Now I’m here to direct your attention here to my pencil

I’m hoping the flowers I gain can overpower the pain
Of knowing my little sister thinks of blowing out her own brain,
So I try to fill that gap with this or some darker humor
But I maneuver with guilt, I’m doing this instead of talking to her

My life has spilt into factions, that’s just how this shit is
Sometimes I feel like a cactus ‘cause I’m surrounded by pricks

But that’s why I’m drawn to the foul and reckless and toxic
You can bet I’ve struck a chord like plowing into a Honda
I was caught in love and war but found the mist in my conscience
So I got a bungee cord to bounce whenever there’s drama

But there’s still aggression in my habits there’s a method to the madness
When shit has hit the fan I just suppress the inner savage
‘Cause with my inner addict’s mental gymnastics I wanna flip like Olympian acrobats ‘cause
Against the interactions I’m dense and hapless as Inspector Gadget

And in my head as every minute passes of reprimanding I get my ass kicked
And legend has it that a wick is planted in the back of my head with a lit up match that’s
Set to trigger the quick synapses of addictive habits that stick like sticker magnets
And now I just wanna clock something ‘cause I’m ticked more than a second hand is

So maybe you think, that if you followed my movements or saw all the blueprints
For songs I’ve produced then you’d prolly assume that 
All of my music is sonic pollution that’s constantly proving
My conscience is ludicrous I’ve lost a screw and that 
I’m sniffing glue and that I’m just a human that’s vomit inducing

But for real I’ve got A’s like battery packs,
But since my teacher was absent in the past, I still don’t have any class
