The conspicuity of rhythm is a veil to the more introspective underpinnings of Esperanza by MoM, ANuT, and CharlieM, with a certain cerebral momentum hidden within electronic intricacies throughout. The single is a byproduct of being in confinement in 2020, “because precisely we hope that there will be a better world in the future,” as MoM explains. With this ambitiously simple message concerning the fundamental principles of love, sharing, and helping, the music becomes analogous to life itself. A gorgeous sunny day dancing in the open air studio footsteps from the ocean and white sand beach of Tulum. Such a beautiful setting with a sacred altar in the center of the dance floor and Kiauitl guiding the opening prayers and burning copal incense the entire time.

This was my last day after spending a month in Tulum for the first time. I had many gigs that month though Ikal was my first when arriving and my last before I left. The vibes at Ikal were magical and I spent many days just drifting around there. 

Each week at Ecstatikal Dance was different, though today was particularly vibrant. The dance floor was lit, kids were running around and the dancers were getting down like no other week I saw. 

I got a lot of great feedback from the community that day. The energy afterward was so loving and open. It was a real pleasure for me to play!

This set includes many great artists such as Kaleema, Paax Tulum, Alex Serra, Mixwell, Praful, Tropo, Temple Step, and a remix of Koffee by Captain Planet.

With 'Sonata in a Daze' we welcome Australian sound maestro Filter Bear to ICONYC with his latest masterpiece. Filter Bear who is been causing quite a stir with his deep stirring house influenced productions. He has released on labels like Replug, Slideways, Traum and Nuit Blanche amongst others, and has gathered massive support from the world's finest including Sasha, Hot Since '82, Nick Warren, Pig and Dan, Chaim, Eelke Kleijn, Hector Romero, Behrouz, X-Press 2 to Armin Van Buuren.

His latest outing shows maturity and musical development as we kick off proceedings with the title track 'Sonata in a Daze', an expressive, progressive house influenced track, interspersing with roomy glowing love and filtered stabs, which beautifully leads into the dreamlike drop to round off this brilliant underground crowd pleaser, with its understated yet driving bassline powering the groove along. Filter Bear manages to keep the energy up, subtlety allowing the driving house feel to shine thru over the many layers and textures to create a beautiful soundscape.

To close out Filter Bear's stunning EP we have the deep, hypnotic 'Together in May' featuring New York based vocalist Shane Hagan, which is interspersed with subtle effective percussion a profound deep-tech groove and indie influence, turning this one into an underground anthem with a very soul tangling appeal. In short, this EP is everything we have come to expect from Filter Bear and a wonderful way to start his affiliation with ICONYC, as he once more shows his sound remains as fresh, super-charged and relevant as he ever was.

With its first release, Eyedyllic Music lays some cement which reveals some of the label’s core blueprint elements. The label has been formed by co-partners Mik Santoro and Kev Obrien, with an aim toward releasing what they consider to be “beautiful, authentic and unpretentious electronic music”, with no genre barriers.
Obrien himself steps up to kick things off in suitable fashion with “So Far Away'. His first single since 2011, Obrien produced it in collaboration with the revered Scottish vocalist, Ian Whitelaw (notably known for his many collaborations with deep house legend, Phonique)
So Far Away indubitably lives up to the aforementioned Eyedyllic esthetique. The track’s moody, key-laden groove lays a perfect foundation for an extraordinary vocal and lyrical performance from Ian Whitelaw, who sings a heartfelt song about his own experience; one which coincidentally matched up with a very similar experience Obrien had been going through when he approached Whitelaw about doing a collaboration, last winter. 
On remix duties, the multi-talented Tone of Arc turns in a rendition that defies all genre boundaries and stands in a world of its own. It's pounding kick makes way to luscious strings, and the mix eventually leads to a funkadelic climax of epic proportions.
