Este EP estaba planeado para ser publicado el año pasado, pero hubo un accidente con mi compu y murio mi disco duro. Perdi los archivos de ableton originales de estas rolas (y un chingo mas) y nomas quedaron unos wavs premasterizados sin terminar que uso para tocar en mis sets. Por un rato estaba decidido de nunca sacar este EP, porque me daba mucho coraje no poder terminar las canciones, mejorar el mixdown, ni mandarlas a masterizar para que sonaran al 100% pero ya ni pedo.

Today marks the dawn of a new era in the politics world and 2016 saw monumental shifts in how the world is shaping up for the future. Inspired by a atmosphere of desperation, frustration and a lack of hope we went to music to seek solace, inspiration and a reminder of the incredible things humans are able to do if they are open minded, work together, cross borders and get creative.

Mare Insularum translates as Sea of Dreams and also the name of one of the moon's many seas. In line with our collective, Shika Shika's, vision, the album not only showcases music that blurs borders and genres, seeking inspiration from past and present, but also music that offers hope, escape, inspiration...

Despite these shifts and the apparent slide into a dangerous new world, at Shika Shika we also believe 2017 is going to be a year of resistance and of hope in every corner of the globe. We believe in the power of music and we believe in the power of collaboration. 

We want to say thanks to all the artists for contributing new tracks, edits and pieces directly written for this compilation.

NEGATIVE YOUTH MÉXICO is a compilation by Negative Youth and the first release on MALIGNA. The idea behind the compilation was asking the best underground electronic music producers in the country to make a track inspired by anything Mexico. 

The tracks were premiered individually on negativeyouth.net during September, a month considered by everyone in Mexico the most patriotic, one to celebrate all things Mexico since it's the month we celebrate our independence.
