Johnny Welfare is a hip-hop producer born and bred in Dublin. He is currently pursuing further education in music production. Heavily influenced by the New York greats: Lord Finesse, J Dilla, Q-Tip and others as well as Irish acts such as; Kojaque, Gi & Costello and This Side Up.

 Leaning on bombastic drum breaks with sharp guitars and thick heavy tones to bring energy and power to complement a very roots oriented hip hop production style, his beats are distinctive and catchy. By adding a wealth of experience playing funk guitar, he adds his own flavour to a traditional hip hop style.

Using an array of modern and vintage gear, his time has been devoted  to studying the productions of the greatest producers hip hop has ever seen, and bringing that into a modern era with a focus on mixing the older style with his personal style.

In addition to working with emerging Irish rappers, he is currently putting the finishing touches on his upcoming release, Social Welfare, an album of hip hop instrumentals.

Most of the tracks are downloaded from youtube videos which can be found by searching the name of the specific track.
