Winter is coming as Icicle returns to the fore with his sophomore album, ‘Entropy’, released November 17th through Shogun Audio. Delivering his most developed and ferocious music to date, Icicle unleashes a tirade of bass weight, ready to blow the eyes and ears of the electronic music world into next year. Leaning from grime infested urban electronica through to emotionally charged trip hop and full on trademark sci-fi drum & bass, the resulting ‘Entropy’ is one of the most prime and compelling examples of hybrid dance music yet seen in 2014.

“My first album 'Under The Ice', was an attempt to showcase my influences and where I came from musically, it was in a sense retrospective. This new album is more of a look into what I think the future of this sound could be. The term ‘Entropy’ means a ‘state of disorder’ or 'measure of chaos' which I felt was a great metaphor for how my production style has evolved, diversified and developed over the years.

While the cinematic interludes lay out a path of ever increasing entropy, I've drawn in vocals from some of my favourite MC’s, Skittles, SP:MC and Foreign Beggars’ Metropolis alongside the very talented Sarah Hezen to join the dots between the energetic and the more musical moments. ‘Entropy' is a statement as to my personal progress in musicality and technique, and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.” Icicle

Distilling a classic sound whilst still heading always into the future, Instinkt represent a blend of tech, neuro and other elements in their music. Hard, uncompromising and pure, the duo’s production is always on point. Let Levitate, Crook, Focus and Nebula take you into the minds and imaginations of Instinkt.
Opener Levitate is a slow burner, taking its time to build up before dropping down into an intense haze of off-kilter sound. Minimal and militaristic, the track manages to strip itself down to the essentials, but still be full of a weird, underground life force. Unrelenting, Levitate will lift you up to the heights with silky synths later on.

Quick on its heels is the more electronic Crook. Driving, pulsing bass dominates this one, with warped effects sliding in and out of the mix. Time and reality slip from your grasp, only the music becomes important, and your whole world is taken over by the madness of the Crook.

Title track Focus is a beast of a tune, with crashing and slashing noise flashing across your brain as Rune and Kaiza completely take over the universe. This really is as big a tune as you’ll hear all year. Constantly rebuilding and re-establishing itself, the metronomic beat is about all you can hold on to. Buzzing chainsaws clash with rising beats and intense melodies, only to fall down and rise again.

Nebula rounds things out, rocketing the EP far into the stratosphere. Roaring bass notes counterplay with sharp beats and a sense of menace which is found throughout the EP.

The signal had flickered into existence without warning, a sudden complex sequence that almost filled the awaiting databanks within moments and laid out an array of schematics beyond comprehension. For years they labored, first to understand and then to build the machine it described, a craft that could finally escape the outermost reaches of the solar system and carry a single human beyond the limits of their star, to the point of the signal’s source. They picked the passenger with care - their most capable pilot, linguist and scientist, ascribed beyond the limits of fear through overwhelming curiosity… The journey was swift, covering that most immeasurable of distances in human terms within days. As he drew close to the origin, far from the sun and beyond the influence of the system, it appeared as a speck in the distance but quickly grew into a sight of overwhelming complexity, a vast silent ship, and static in the darkness, blotting out the light of distant stars. As the shuttle drew close, it shuddered into life, internal lights hesitating before firmly illuminating and colossal vents purged gases into the yawning nothingness of space. The vessels nestled together, extending appendages and exchanging code. With a sigh the airlock opened and sequential lighting ushered him within the vacant hulk, a faint trembling of power running through the hull and beneath his feet. He entered the endless chamber with wide pupils, so big that it receded into blackness, the overwhelming mechanism before him filling his vision – a vast sphere engineered to an impossible configuration… a pathway to the stars… the WARP DRIVE.

MALUX is an artist who surged into the drum & bass sphere suddenly in 2016, delivering a tight selection of releases on some of the leading labels in the genre and making his mark on the European live scene with rapid success. Its hulking form loomed impressively over the landscape with silent menace, intricately laced with the forbidden technology of its inherent design - discrete but powerful audio weaponry blisters in low profile across its chassis. Its journey from the depths of the continent to the crucible of Europe had been arduous, following the densely interwoven fiber stands laid down by the Controller itself, webbed across the hemisphere to gather sonic intel from the core label habitats and to signal the gathering once per cycle at the apogee of solar proximity. With the arrival of that signal, the EATBRAIN cluster had erupted in a frenzy of activity, initiating the activation sequences planned by their greatest minds. An upload of the entire population into the vast mechanism of their creation, a design with the pure objective of sonic decimation at the LIR battle royale. It stood there against the skyline looking down at that sector, the Controller’s ship setting down in the dust of the ancient, abandoned military base, the arriving vessel unfurling resonators and speaker stacks primed with off-world mechanisms. Without hesitation the vast Eatbrain mecha issued its sequence of final checks, loading the audio assimilation interface destined to annihilate all below and took a stride towards the awaiting masses. 

EATBRAIN deliver their second tight package of pure neurofunk energy for the LIR EP, signalling their unwavering intent to deliver an ultimate selection of high-end drum & bass at Europe’s largest drum & bass festival.
