Released on Summer Solstice 2021 and born from three world-renowned artists from three continents, “Jai Shiva Shankar” is the incredible new single by Franko Heke, Monica Dogra, and Mose. Call it what you will — serendipity, magic, destiny — something special brought these three vanguard artists together to create this 6-minute dance mantra combination. When it comes to the fusion of these genres, this is a first for New Zealand native Franko Heke, who remarks, “Jai Shiva Shankar is a mantra that came to me on my travels through India and it represents Shiva the creator, protector and transformer of the universe. Shiva and Shakti represent the masculine and feminine that resides in us all.” It is in Bali where Franko met Monica Dogra, the Indian-American powerhouse vocalist who has released five albums with Mumbaikar electronic duo Shaa’ir and Func. 

Gorgeous harmonies between Heke and Dogra breathe spiritual energy into this mantra-driven composition. Underneath and interwoven through the vocals we hear haunting Indian flute, Egyptian drums, tabla, and oud. Guatemala-based ecstatic dance DJ and producer Mose transforms the grounded rhythm section into a series of tasty grooves that are indulgently danceable and beckon for movement. This well-balanced piece repeats the title mantra “Jai Shiva Shankar” alongside instrumental and vocal bridges that are ethereal and rich with emotional energy, revealing that Franko Heke, Monica Dogra, and Mose are the healing trifecta we didn’t know we needed this summer solstice.

We are living in some powerful times, with many different perspectives on what is happening and where we are going as a planet. 

Beautiful Mystery is a calling to humanity, to embrace the unknown as beautiful, powerful and benevolent. It's the framework that the direction we are going in can be what we choose it to be. That we can co-create together, as a greater community, guided by something much larger than ourselves. 

This a prayer for humanity to open its heart wider and embrace the global village. This is a prayer for our greater tribe of earth stewards to rise up and lead the way home. This a prayer for the deepest honoring and protection of the sacred. This is a prayer for universal harmony & the great remembrance to sweep across the earth. 

Many of these songs could have been birthed out of standing rock, yet were sewn over the last 3.5 years. Arriving in divine timing to continue to tell the story of our greater movement and support the rise of the peaceful warrior nation. May all who hold the earth as sacred come together in unity. May we stand as one people. May the prophecies be fulfilled. May we return to the one world tree that Black Elk spoke of and enter into the beautiful mystery...

Phonica Special Editions follow up their inaugural release with an EP featuring three
remixes of singer, producer and Toronto native, Sandro Perri. Sandro has released more
than a dozen solo and collaborative records under his given name as well as under the
Polmo Polpo & Glissandro 70 monikers, mainly on Canadian cult imprint Constellation.

“Love & Light / The Drums Remixes” features reworks from Worst friends Tom Croose
and Slow Hands. Fresh from his recent outing on Resista, Tom Croose is kept busy with
not one, but two remixes of mr Perri. First up and taking up the whole of side A, “Love &
Light” – originally on 2011’s “Impossible Spaces” – gets a subtle electronic re-rub with
restrained electronic flourishes that gently complement the original's organic, ethereal
sound – a weirdly captivating, mystical trip! All that, while getting boosted from a
criminally short three and a half minutes to a more respectable nine plus…

Next up is Slow Hands, Tom Croose’s partner in Worst Friends who has released on
Wolf+Lamb. He takes “The Drums” (a track from Sandro’s debut album “Tiny Mirrors”) to
places where it’s never been before. by re-imagining the song into a breezy summer
anthem where old school electric piano stabs, handclaps and a general feel-good vibes
take centre stage.

Rounding off this excellent remix 12” we have Tom Croose again, who returns for
another version of “The Drums” and harmoniously marries synth riffs and a laid back
groove with Sandro’s signature contemplative vocal, rounding off this excellent remix
package in style.

There is nothing like experiencing a deep sense of ease when you are going up against a challenge. But what happens when there is pressure and overwhelm? What’s in your tool belt to transmute that and continue with your unique mission?   

This song is for all those that show up with their service -- day in and day out making it happen, in service to the evolution of our planet. This new song “Pressure” is also an ode to those that see the blessing in discomfort. It’s a tool to navigate the overwhelm. Navigate pressure. 

@KyleBent is the perfect feature for this track. He came into my studio and did the whole verse without writing. He sat right in front of the mic and let his genius go. To me he brings together two important aspects of the renaissance artist… First, His skill level with words is unparalleled. Second, He’s sincerely focused on becoming a better human and understanding the holistic levels of life.

Pressure is deep beats, hiphop, trap fusion and bass colliding with Asian string instruments (Chinese violin and India’s Esraj). 

Music produced, lyrics written (except for Kyle’s Verse), song mixed and mastered by me. I had the fortune of working with “Diamond” as a consultant and co-producer on this track,  one of J. Coles producers of Dreamville Records.
